Killscreen has introduced the SFC-1, a new custom gaming controller designed for players who want a retro-inspired look combined with modern performance features. The Gaming Controller takes inspiration from the Japanese Super Famicom hardware era and is built for PlayStation 5 and PC gaming setups.

The SFC-1 features a classic design based on the Japanese Super Famicom controller, using a soft gray finish, graphite directional controls, and colorful face buttons in blue, green, red, and yellow. The overall design follows the visual identity of 16-bit gaming hardware that became popular among players through imported consoles, gaming magazines, and collector communities.
Killscreen says the SFC-1 was created to bring back the feeling of classic Japanese gaming hardware while adapting it for current platforms. The company focused on keeping the recognizable appearance of the Super Famicom era while adding features aimed at modern players.

“Growing up, the Super Famicom always felt like this mysterious, cooler version of the system we got in the U.S.,” said Erik from Killscreen. “The gray body, the colored buttons, the shape of the console—it had this completely different energy. It felt like hardware from another world. With SFC-1, we wanted to capture a little bit of that feeling and bring it forward for PC and PS5.”
Along with its classic styling, the SFC-1 includes optional hardware upgrades for players who want improved control and responsiveness. One of the available upgrades is TMR Anti-Drift Thumbsticks, designed to offer improved precision and better resistance against stick drift over long-term use.
The controller can also be equipped with Mecha Triggers featuring Omron microswitches. These triggers are designed with shorter activation points, allowing faster input response for competitive gaming. Another upgrade option includes mechanical face buttons that provide a more tactile press and quicker feedback compared to standard buttons.

Killscreen is offering different configurations for the SFC-1, allowing players to choose between a regular controller setup or a performance-focused version with additional upgrades. This gives users more control over the features they want, depending on their gaming preferences.
The launch continues Killscreen’s lineup of custom controllers inspired by classic gaming systems. Previous releases have included designs influenced by PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo-era hardware, combining familiar aesthetics with features designed for current gaming platforms.
