Xiaomi is moving quickly with Android 17, with the company confirming that HyperOS 4 beta testing will begin in China on August 14. The first wave covers eight devices, giving Xiaomi an early testing group for its next major software release before the program expands to more smartphones and tablets later this month and in September.
The HyperOS 4 beta program will be rolled out in three phases. The first batch is scheduled to receive the Android 17-based firmware on August 14 and includes the Xiaomi 17 series, Redmi K90 models, and Xiaomi’s latest Pad 8 tablets.
The first eight devices are:

The second phase is scheduled for August 27, adding another 10 devices to the beta program. This group includes the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro, Xiaomi 15 series, Redmi K90 models, and Redmi K Pad 2.

The first beta batch will be completed on September 17, when Xiaomi plans to add another eight devices. These include the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, several Redmi K80 and K100 models, and the Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro 12.5 and Pad 7 Ultra.
Across all three phases, Xiaomi has confirmed 26 devices for the initial HyperOS 4 beta program. The rollout will give the company time to test Android 17 and its own software changes across different hardware configurations before a wider release.
Xiaomi is also promising several performance improvements with HyperOS 4. According to the company, system response time can improve by up to 17.5%, while application stability is claimed to increase by 28.9%. Memory performance is also expected to receive improvements, although real-world results will depend on the individual device.
AI is another major part of HyperOS 4. Xiaomi has introduced a new AI interaction feature and is integrating its MiMo large model into the operating system. The company is also changing parts of the interface, with early HyperOS 4 material showing a design that has similarities to Apple’s iOS 26. Animations also appear smoother than those found in HyperOS 3.
For now, Xiaomi has only confirmed the beta schedule for China. The company has not provided an official timeline for the global HyperOS 4 beta, although international testing could begin after the Chinese program gets underway. Xiaomi is expected to share more details as development and testing progress.
