Huawei Pura X View Is a Wide Smartphone With a 7,000mAh Battery and 6.68mm Body

Huawei is taking a different approach to smartphone design with the Pura X View, a wide candy-bar phone that brings the unusual proportions of a foldable into a fixed-body device. The company has now opened reservations for the phone through Vmall in China, confirming several key specifications while keeping pricing and chipset details under wraps.

The Huawei Pura X View uses a 6.39-inch OLED display with a 15.5:9 aspect ratio and a 2,232 × 1,320 resolution. That makes the phone noticeably wider than most current candy-bar smartphones, which generally use taller 19:9 or 20:9-class displays. Huawei has also pushed the screen close to the edges, with a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio and 1.05mm bezels on all four sides.

The display is rated for up to 6,500 nits peak brightness at 1% APL and supports 2,160Hz PWM dimming. The phone itself measures just 6.68mm thick and weighs 201 grams, despite carrying a large 7,000mAh battery. Huawei lists the rated battery capacity at 6,815mAh.

The design takes some inspiration from Huawei’s Pura X Max wide foldable, including a similar rear texture and pill-shaped triple-camera housing. However, the Pura X View drops the folding mechanism and external cover display entirely. It is a single-body smartphone designed around the wider screen from the start.

Huawei is offering the phone in Phantom Night Black, Zero Degree White, Leaping Shadow Red, and Linen Grey. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, all paired with 12GB of RAM.

For now, Huawei has not revealed the chipset, pricing, or the complete camera specifications. The Vmall listing currently shows no pricing for the available configurations. That leaves the Pura X View’s performance and market positioning unanswered, but the hardware already gives the phone a clear identity.

Huawei’s decision to build a wide phone without a hinge could also make the concept more practical for buyers who want a different screen shape without paying for a foldable mechanism. The bigger question is whether users will prefer this wider layout for everyday apps, video and gaming over the taller displays used by most modern smartphones.

Reservations for the Huawei Pura X View are now open in China, with Huawei expected to reveal the remaining details as the launch approaches.
