GameSir has announced a new mobile gaming accessory at CES 2026 with the launch of the Pocket Taco, a vertical wireless controller aimed at fans of retro-style games. The controller clips onto the bottom of a smartphone, turning the device into a handheld system that closely resembles classic vertical gaming consoles from earlier generations.
The Pocket Taco is designed with vertical screen games in mind, a format still widely used by classic titles and modern retro-inspired releases. It connects to smartphones using Bluetooth and is expected to work with both Android devices and Apple iPhones. GameSir has not listed platform limitations so far, suggesting broad compatibility across mobile operating systems.

Visually, the Pocket Taco follows a familiar design language. It uses a beige-gray color scheme that mirrors the look of the original Game Boy. The front layout includes a traditional D-pad, ABXY buttons built with a membrane structure, and Start and Select buttons positioned for easy access. On the rear, the controller adds L1, L2, R1, and R2 shoulder buttons, all using tactile switches. This makes it more flexible for games that require additional inputs beyond basic controls.

The clip-on design allows the controller to fit smartphones of different sizes. GameSir has also added a recessed section at the bottom, making it possible to charge the phone while gaming without removing the controller. This detail addresses a common issue with mobile controllers that block charging ports during extended play sessions.

In terms of hardware, the Pocket Taco is powered by a 600mAh battery and weighs 62.2 grams. Button remapping is supported through a companion app, allowing users to adjust control layouts based on game requirements or personal preference.

The Pocket Taco enters a growing market of retro-focused mobile controllers. Recently, 8BitDo released the FlipPad, which follows a similar concept but connects via USB-C and does not include shoulder buttons. This difference may make the GameSir Pocket 1 more suitable for a wider range of games.
GameSir has opened pre-orders for the Pocket Taco, with a listed price of $34.99. The company expects the controller to be available for general sale starting March 15.
