GALAX has unveiled its latest graphics card, the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 3X, which is positioned as a more accessible custom-design option within its RTX 4080 lineup. Falling below the SG, ST, EX Gamer, and HOF series in terms of hierarchy, the SUPER 3X is designed to provide high-performance gaming without the premium features associated with higher-end models.
Design and Cooling Features
The RTX 4080 SUPER 3X features a streamlined aesthetic with a sporty, multi-layered plastic cooler shroud. The cooling system employs a triple-fan setup that ensures effective heat dissipation while maintaining a thickness of no more than three slots. The cooling solution is based on a dual aluminum fin stack design connected via heat pipes, strategically placed to enhance thermal management.
Interestingly, the PCB covers only two-thirds of the card’s length. This design choice allows airflow from the third fan—and partially from the second—to pass through the heatsink and exit via a cutout in the backplate. While the fans themselves lack lighting, the card features an illuminated GeForce RTX logo on the top for a subtle visual accent.
Specifications
The RTX 4080 SUPER 3X leverages the full capabilities of the “AD103” silicon, offering a configuration that includes:
- CUDA Cores: 10,240
- Ray Tracing (RT) Cores: 80
- Tensor Cores: 320
- Render Output Units (ROPs): 112
- Texture Mapping Units (TMUs): 320
- L2 Cache: 64 MB
The card is paired with 16 GB of 23 Gbps GDDR6X memory, connected via a 256-bit memory interface, delivering a total memory bandwidth of 736 GB/s. This hardware configuration ensures robust performance across a range of gaming and rendering workloads.
Overclocking and Software Support
Unlike GALAX’s higher-tier models, the RTX 4080 SUPER 3X does not come with factory overclocking. However, the company includes a software-based “1-click OC” mode, enabling users to achieve a modest performance boost without delving into manual overclocking.
Market Position
With the introduction of the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 3X, GALAX aims to strike a balance between performance and affordability. By offering a no-frills design and essential features, the card caters to users seeking the raw power of the RTX 4080 architecture without additional costs associated with premium aesthetics or advanced features.
The pricing and availability details for the RTX 4080 SUPER 3X have yet to be disclosed, but its positioning within GALAX’s lineup suggests it will appeal to budget-conscious enthusiasts who prioritize performance over extras.
