Techland has officially confirmed a delay for its upcoming first-person open-world title Dying Light: The Beast. Originally set to launch on August 22, the new release date is now September 19, 2025. The studio cited the need for additional development time to polish key elements of the game.
In a message shared with the community, the team explained that the delay will help refine gameplay balance, improve UI clarity, enhance in-game physics, and make final adjustments to animations and cutscenes. According to the developers, these extra weeks will help ensure a smoother launch and a better overall experience for players.
The update stated:
“It has always been our goal to make Dying Light: The Beast the best Dying Light game we’ve ever released. With just four additional weeks, we can address final details that make all the difference between good and great.”
The move comes as Techland aims to avoid the rocky launch that impacted Dying Light 2: Stay Human in 2022. That game faced criticism for bugs and pacing issues at release, although the studio later improved it through a series of updates. The reception to the sequel likely influenced the current approach, as Techland looks to meet higher standards from the outset.
Ahead of the delay, the game was featured in several preview sessions, including a hands-on report from Wccftech. These previews highlighted new mechanics, expanded world design, and a focus on player-driven action. Feedback was generally positive, but some areas were flagged for refinement—an effort now being addressed with the extra development time.

Those attending Gamescom 2025 in Cologne will be able to try the game in Hall 6, where Dying Light: The Beast will be fully playable. Techland also plans to share more development updates in the weeks leading up to launch, including a new behind-the-scenes video focusing on how gore systems were designed, narrated by the character ‘Bober the Beaver.’
Dying Light: The Beast is scheduled to release on September 19, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
