Drakong has announced The Challenger, its first gaming controller for Xbox and PC, expanding the lineup of gaming accessories from Hyperkin’s newly introduced gaming hardware brand. Designed for players looking for modern controller features at an affordable price, The Challenger is officially licensed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11 PCs. The wired controller is scheduled to begin shipping on July 9 with a suggested retail price of $34.99 on Amazon, making it one of the more affordable licensed options to include Hall-effect thumbsticks.

The company says The Challenger was developed for a wide range of players, from those enjoying casual games to users spending hours in competitive multiplayer titles. Instead of focusing only on premium pricing, Drakong has equipped the controller with several features that are commonly found on more expensive models.

The controller features Hall-effect thumbsticks that use magnetic sensors instead of traditional mechanical components. This design helps reduce wear over time and minimizes the risk of stick drift, one of the most common issues affecting modern controllers. It also includes two programmable rear buttons, allowing frequently used actions to be assigned to the back of the controller so players can keep their thumbs on the analog sticks during gameplay.

The Challenger also puts emphasis on long gaming sessions. It features an ergonomic design with laser-textured grips on both the handles and triggers, helping maintain a secure grip during extended gameplay. Drakong has also used a durable membrane design for the ABXY buttons, aiming to improve longevity during frequent use.
Other features included with The Challenger include:
- Officially licensed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11 PCs
- Hall-effect thumbsticks designed to reduce stick drift
- Two programmable rear buttons
- Ergonomic controller design
- Laser-textured grips on the handles and triggers
- Durable membrane ABXY button construction
- Impulse Triggers with localized vibration feedback
- Detachable 10-foot USB-C cable
- Built-in 3.5mm headset jack
Since The Challenger is a wired controller, Drakong includes a detachable 10-foot USB-C cable, providing enough length for desk setups and tournament environments where wired connections remain a popular choice. The controller also features Impulse Triggers, delivering localized vibration feedback directly through the triggers to improve immersion in supported Xbox games. A built-in 3.5mm audio jack allows users to connect compatible gaming headsets without requiring additional adapters.

Commenting on the launch, Slade Dude Suzuki, Lead Product Developer at Drakong, said the company wanted to deliver a controller that combines comfort, precision, and premium features while keeping the price accessible. He added that the inclusion of Hall-effect sensors, textured grips, and programmable buttons reflects Drakong’s goal of offering dependable performance for Xbox and PC gamers across different game genres.
The Challenger is the first controller released under the Drakong brand following Hyperkin’s introduction of The Competitor last year. With official Xbox licensing, Hall-effect thumbsticks, customizable rear controls, and a retail price of $34.99 on Amazon, The Challenger enters the wired controller market as a new option for players seeking modern gaming features without paying premium controller prices.
