Bloober Team has shared the first gameplay footage and a new developer diary for Cronos: Lazarus, giving players their first detailed look at the upcoming expansion for Cronos: The New Dawn. The DLC introduces several gameplay changes that move away from the slower, resource-focused survival horror of the base game and place a greater emphasis on mobility, faster combat, and tactical decision-making. Cronos: Lazarus is currently scheduled to launch in Fall 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The expansion takes players back to an earlier chapter in the life of the Warden. Before becoming the character players know from the original game, he served as a Pathfinder, an agent working for the Collective. According to Bloober Team, the DLC explores this period to expand the game’s universe while telling a more personal story centered on the character’s conflict with the organization he once served.
Gameplay has also received several additions that significantly change how encounters unfold. Rather than encouraging players to remain defensive throughout every battle, the new abilities offer more options for movement and positioning while maintaining the tension expected from the series.
Some of the key additions shown in the gameplay reveal include:
- Teleportation, allowing players to instantly move to a selected location for exploration or combat repositioning.
- Decoy, which creates a ghostly copy of the Pathfinder to distract enemies while reducing the chances of being detected.
- Gladius, a new melee weapon that delivers faster attacks and more serious damage than the original dagger.
- A new combat style that focuses on movement, timing, and tactical positioning instead of relying solely on limited resources.
- A new enemy deployed by the Collective that is specifically designed to hunt the Warden and counter his new abilities.
The developer diary explains that these mechanics are intended to create a different pace compared to Cronos: The New Dawn. Teleportation allows players to quickly escape dangerous situations or flank enemy groups, while Decoy can be used to split enemy attention and create opportunities to attack from safer positions. Combined with the faster Gladius weapon, the expansion encourages players to stay mobile throughout combat encounters.
Bloober Team also revealed that the Collective’s newly introduced envoy serves as the main threat in the expansion. Instead of simply surviving against hostile creatures, players will face an enemy created to track and challenge the Warden’s enhanced mobility, making each encounter more dynamic.

Beyond the gameplay changes, Cronos: Lazarus expands the narrative by focusing on the Pathfinder’s personal mission. Acting against the Collective’s wishes, the protagonist pursues a goal that promises to reveal more about both his past and the wider mythology of the Cronos universe.
Cronos: Lazarus is scheduled to release in Fall 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. While Bloober Team has yet to announce a specific release date, the first gameplay footage and developer diary provide a clear look at the direction of the expansion, introducing new combat mechanics, additional story content, and a different approach to the survival horror formula established in the base game.
