Corsair has announced the launch of its new EX300U portable SSD, designed for fast, reliable, and convenient storage in a compact form factor. The Portable SSD is equipped with a USB-C interface supporting USB 3.2 Gen 2, offering transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps. According to Corsair, the EX300U can deliver sequential read and write speeds of up to 1,100MB/s, making it suitable for creators, mobile users, and professionals who handle large files and need quick access to their data on the go.
The EX300U features a MagSafe-compatible magnetic ring, allowing it to securely attach to iPhones and other metal surfaces. This design helps mobile content creators keep the drive connected while recording, transferring footage, or backing up files. Corsair has targeted this SSD toward users who frequently move between different devices and locations but still require desktop-grade performance in a pocket-sized package.

Inside, the EX300U uses 3D NAND flash memory and is powered by the Phison PS2217-17 (U17) controller. The drive adopts a DRAM-less architecture, which helps reduce power consumption and maintain compact dimensions. To balance performance and endurance, Corsair has implemented dynamic pSLC caching, TRIM, and garbage collection technologies. These ensure that the drive maintains consistent speeds over time, even after prolonged usage.
The SSD connects through a single USB-C port that handles both data and power, eliminating the need for separate cables. Corsair includes two USB-C to USB-C cables in the box: a 30cm 10Gbps cable for desktop setups and a short 7cm 40Gbps cable with a 90-degree connector for mobile devices. This flexibility makes the EX300U equally practical for use with laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

Built with a gunmetal aluminum body, the EX300U weighs around 98 grams and is engineered to resist vibration and shock. It can operate in temperatures ranging from 0°C to 70°C and withstand storage conditions as low as –40°C. The drive is rated at 250TBW per terabyte of capacity and comes with a three-year limited warranty.
Corsair offers the EX300U in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities. The 1TB variant is listed at $99.99 but was temporarily out of stock at launch. The 2TB and 4TB models are available for $159.99 and $324.99, respectively, with shipping expected between October 10 and October 13 through Corsair’s online store.
The EX300U works across major platforms, including Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android, and Linux, requiring no additional drivers or software. This cross-compatibility broadens its use across multiple environments, from field recording and on-site backups to general-purpose storage for professionals.
While the EX300U targets the mainstream performance segment, Corsair continues to offer higher-speed options such as the EX400U series for users who need USB4 or Thunderbolt performance. The Corsair EX300U, however, emphasizes balance—delivering strong transfer rates, durable construction, and convenient design features at a competitive price point.
With this launch, Corsair expands its external storage lineup, giving users a versatile SSD that bridges desktop and mobile workflows without adding unnecessary complexity.
