CHERRY has announced a new addition to its gaming keyboard lineup with the launch of the CHERRY XTRFY K5V2 8K, an upgraded version of the K5V2 COMPACT mechanical keyboard. The new model brings a major improvement in input performance by increasing the polling rate to 8000Hz, offering eight times the reporting frequency of the original version. The higher polling rate allows the keyboard to send input data to the system more frequently, helping reduce input delay during gaming.
The K5V2 8K keeps the same 65% compact layout as its predecessor, making it suitable for users who prefer a smaller keyboard without losing dedicated arrow keys. The compact design also creates more room for mouse movement, making it a popular choice among competitive gamers and users with limited desk space.

CHERRY equips the keyboard with MX2A Linear Red mechanical switches out of the box. These switches are designed to provide a smooth keystroke with a light actuation force, making them suitable for both gaming and everyday typing. Users who prefer different switch types can also replace them, as the keyboard features a hot-swappable PCB that supports compatible mechanical switches without requiring soldering.
The internal construction has also been designed to improve the typing experience. The keyboard uses a metal plate structure, PCB-mounted stabilizers, and dual-layer sound-dampening foam to reduce unwanted noise while improving key stability and overall typing feel. The included OEM-profile thickened ABS keycaps feature a high-transparency design that allows RGB lighting to pass through more effectively.

In addition to the faster polling rate, the K5V2 8K offers a 2kHz full-key scan rate, allowing the keyboard to detect key presses more frequently before transmitting them to the connected PC. Together, these improvements are intended to deliver quicker response times, especially in fast-paced games where every key press matters.
