Black Myth: Zhong Kui Gets First In-Engine Footage in Year of the Horse Video

Game Science has released a new video featuring six minutes of in-engine footage from Black Myth: Zhong Kui, offering fans an early glimpse of the game’s world and visuals. The video, produced as a Year of the Horse Special, is non-canon and intended for entertainment only. The developers note that it does not necessarily reflect the final quality of the game.

Black Myth: Zhong Kui is a single-player action role-playing game inspired by the legendary Chinese folk figure Zhong Kui. The game combines traditional Chinese mythology with modern action RPG mechanics, promising a unique experience for fans of the genre. While this new video showcases what Game Science can achieve using Unreal Engine 5, it is not representative of official gameplay.

There is currently no confirmed release date for the game. Game Science has yet to launch a store page on platforms like Steam or the Epic Games Store. This means that players should not expect to try the game in the near future. When Black Myth: Zhong Kui was first announced in August 2025, the project had only a CG trailer, with the developers describing it as little more than an empty folder at that time. No in-game footage was available during the initial reveal.

The latest six-minute in-engine video is the first opportunity for fans to see how Game Science envisions the game world. From the detailed environments to the character models, it highlights the potential scale and design that the developers are aiming for. While the content is non-canon, it provides insight into the game’s style and technical capabilities, marking an important milestone for the project.

For now, fans will have to wait for further announcements to learn more about the gameplay mechanics, story, and official release timeline. Black Myth: Zhong Kui continues to be one of the most anticipated action RPGs in development, with this video offering the first tangible look at what the game could become.
