Battlefield 6 Season 2 Rolls Out With New European Maps, Limited-Time Modes, and Operation Augur

Electronic Arts Inc. and Battlefield Studios have launched Season 2 for Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC, introducing a new wave of content that shifts the setting to Europe. The update is being released in three phases, beginning today, and will continue rolling out through mid-April. Players can expect two new maps, multiple limited-time modes, fresh weapons and vehicles, as well as a new Battle Pass tied to the seasonal progression.

The first phase, titled Extreme Measures, is now live and introduces a large-scale map called Contaminated. The setting places players in a forest region heavily damaged by experimental weapons and sustained shelling. The terrain reflects the aftermath of large military operations, with scarred landscapes and unstable zones influencing sightlines and movement. The design encourages varied combat styles, balancing long-range engagements with contested objective areas. Alongside the map, a limited-time mode named VL-7 has been added. This mode centers around psychoactive smoke clouds that spread across sections of the battlefield, distorting visibility and altering player perception. The environmental effect changes how squads approach objectives, as communication and positioning become more critical under reduced clarity.

Phase 2, titled Nightfall, will begin on March 17 and introduces Hagental Base, a military facility designed for tight interior combat and layered vertical encounters. Unlike the open layout of Contaminated, Hagental Base focuses on enclosed spaces and corridor engagements. As part of the Nightfall theme, a limited-time mode will darken much of the map, forcing players to operate in near-total blackout conditions. Night Vision Goggles will be available, allowing teams to navigate and secure tactical positions inside the facility. The mode will also appear in Battlefield REDSEC through a dedicated Gauntlet playlist.

Season 2 will conclude on April 17 with Hunter & Prey, bringing Operation Augur to both maps. Inspired by the large-scale Operations format first seen in Battlefield 1, the mode focuses on extended objective-based battles that unfold across multiple stages. Matches emphasize coordinated squad play and sustained offensive or defensive momentum over longer sessions.

Additional content across all three phases includes new weapons, vehicles, gadgets, cosmetic items, and seasonal store updates. Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC are available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Steam, the EA App, and the Epic Games Store.
