ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has started teasing its next gaming controller as part of its upcoming summer peripherals lineup. The company shared a short teaser video on X, offering the first look at the new controller while confirming that it will feature improvements in both performance and design. Although ASUS has not revealed the product’s official name or launch date, the teaser provides a few hints about what gamers can expect.
The teaser describes the upcoming controller as offering “both performance and aesthetic upgrades.” Based on the footage, the controller continues to use an asymmetrical thumbstick layout, a design that many players prefer for PC and Xbox gaming. ASUS also highlights support for an 8,000Hz polling rate, suggesting that low-latency performance will be one of the controller’s key selling points.

An 8,000Hz polling rate allows the controller to send input data to a connected device up to 8,000 times every second. Compared to traditional controllers with lower polling rates, this can reduce input delay and provide faster response times during gameplay. While the actual difference may vary depending on the game, hardware, and system support, competitive players are generally more likely to benefit from higher polling rates.
From the teaser, the upcoming ROG controller is expected to include:
- 8,000Hz polling rate for lower input latency.
- Performance and design improvements.
- An asymmetrical thumbstick layout.
- A premium gaming-focused design.
- Launch as part of ASUS ROG’s summer peripherals lineup.
The new controller is expected to build on the features offered by ASUS’ previous premium gamepad. Last year’s model introduced several features aimed at competitive and enthusiast gamers, including anti-drift TMR analog sticks for improved durability and accuracy. It also featured dual-mode triggers that could switch between short and full trigger travel, making it suitable for both racing and first-person shooter games.

Other features included mechanical microswitch face buttons, four programmable rear buttons for custom controls, and tri-mode connectivity, allowing users to connect through wired USB, Bluetooth, or a 2.4GHz wireless connection. These features positioned it as a premium controller for both PC and console players.
ASUS has not confirmed whether all of these features will return in the upcoming model, but the company’s focus on performance improvements suggests that many of the existing technologies could receive further refinements. The teaser also hints at changes to the controller’s appearance, although the short video does not reveal enough to identify any major design differences.
At the time of writing, ASUS has yet to announce pricing, availability, or a full specification sheet. More information is expected as the company officially introduces its summer peripherals lineup in the coming weeks. Until then, the teaser gives gamers an early look at what could become the next flagship controller in the ROG accessories portfolio, with a clear focus on fast response times and competitive gaming performance.
