Assassin’s Creed Mirage Marks Second Anniversary with Free “Valley of Memory” Expansion Launching November 18

Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will receive a free story expansion titled “Valley of Memory”, arriving on November 18, 2025, to mark the game’s second anniversary. The update delivers new story content, gameplay features, and quality-of-life improvements for all players who already own the game.

New Story in AlUla

“Valley of Memory” expands the world of Assassin’s Creed Mirage with a narrative that unfolds before the events of the game’s finale. The story follows Basim after he discovers that his long-lost father may still be alive in AlUla, a region known for its deep history and desert landscapes. As Basim investigates these rumors, he finds that AlUla is under threat from a group of dangerous robbers while his father has mysteriously gone missing.

The expansion offers around six hours of new gameplay and introduces a completely new region to explore. AlUla’s environment includes several historical locations such as the old town, the Musa Ibn Musayr fortress, the Valley of the Stones, and the ancient necropolis of Hegra. Players will need to navigate the desert carefully as ambushes and traps are scattered throughout the region.

The new content adds a main story quest, side missions, assassination contracts, and new targets. Ubisoft has also included a unique twist on the franchise’s black box missions, offering more creative ways to complete objectives. Players can even collect musical sheets hidden across the map to unlock the ability for Basim to play the oud, a traditional string instrument, at specific points in the game.

Beyond the story, “Valley of Memory” introduces several gameplay enhancements for both the AlUla region and the base game set in Baghdad. Key updates include:

  • Replayable missions and challenges: Players can now replay completed black box missions and contracts with new modifiers and restrictions. Completing these challenges rewards exclusive in-game items.
  • Expanded parkour controls: A new manual jump toggle and improved control scheme provide smoother navigation and more freedom when chaining movement sequences. Basim can now perform side and back ejects without requiring a clear landing point.
  • Skill and tool upgrades: A new Engineer 2 skill allows equipping all level 1 tool modifications, while level 3 upgrades have been added to every tool.
  • New difficulty options: Two additional difficulty levels let players tailor the challenge to their preference.

The “Valley of Memory” expansion is being developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux and Ubisoft Paris, with support from teams in Bucarest, Da Nang, and Montpellier. The expansion will be available as a free update across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC (Ubisoft Store, Steam, Epic Games Store), Amazon Luna, iOS, and Ubisoft+.

Ubisoft stated that recreating 9th-century AlUla required significant research and artistic interpretation, as many historical records of the area have been lost over time. The team aimed to balance historical authenticity with creative freedom, offering a region that feels consistent with the rest of Mirage’s world design.

With this update, Ubisoft continues to support Assassin’s Creed Mirage beyond its initial roadmap, giving players a reason to return to Basim’s journey with a new setting, narrative depth, and additional gameplay opportunities—all at no extra cost.
