Aesco Launched A83 Air Low-Profile 75% Layout Keyboard With 630-Hour Battery

Aesco, a sub-brand of Rapoo, has introduced its first multi-mode low-profile mechanical keyboard, the Aesco A83 Air. The new model features a compact 75% layout, combining a space-saving design with mechanical switches and wireless connectivity. With its slim construction, hot-swap support, and large battery, the A83 Air is aimed at users who want a portable mechanical keyboard for both work and gaming setups.

The A83 Air features a thin profile, measuring just 12.5 mm at its thinnest point. This makes it noticeably slimmer than many traditional mechanical keyboards. The keyboard uses an aluminum alloy sandblasted top cover that provides a clean and durable finish. The bottom section has a one-piece curved shell, which adds to the simple and minimal design. For typing comfort, Aesco includes magnetic kickstands with two adjustable angles. This allows users to raise the keyboard and adjust the typing position based on their preference.

Internally, the keyboard uses a Gasket mounting structure, which helps reduce vibration during typing. To improve acoustics, Aesco integrates five layers of sound-absorbing materials inside the chassis. Even with its slim design, the keyboard includes these internal layers to reduce noise and improve the typing feel.

The positioning plate is made from PC material, and the PCB supports full hot-swappable switches, allowing users to replace switches without soldering. This gives users more flexibility if they want to try different switches later. The keyboard also includes RGB backlighting, along with a dedicated status island lighting area that provides visual indicators for certain functions.

Aesco has equipped the A83 Air with custom Kailh low-profile Mint switches made from full POM material. These switches offer a total travel distance of 2.8±0.25 mm and an actuation point of 1.2±0.3 mm. The actuation force is rated at 38±8 gf, which provides a relatively light typing experience suitable for long typing sessions as well as gaming. Kailh rates the switches for up to 50 million keystrokes.

The keyboard uses PBT keycaps produced through a double-shot injection molding process, which helps maintain the legends even after long-term use and improves durability compared to standard ABS keycaps.

Powering the keyboard is a 3800 mAh battery, which Aesco claims can deliver up to 630 hours of battery life depending on usage conditions and lighting settings. This extended battery life should allow users to use the keyboard for long periods without frequent charging.

With the launch of the Aesco A83 Air, the company is entering the growing market of low-profile mechanical keyboards, offering a compact layout, customizable switches, and long battery life in a slim form factor.
