Acer Predator Storage has released its new GM9 SSD, built on the PCIe 5.0 interface. This SSD targets the mainstream market and delivers fast storage performance using a DRAM-less design combined with SLC cache technology. It is designed for users who need faster data transfer speeds for tasks like gaming, content creation, and general system performance.
The GM9 follows the NVMe 2.0 standard and comes in the M.2 2280 form factor. It uses a single-sided PCB layout, which helps with installation in compact systems, including thin laptops and small-form-factor desktops. The drive is offered in three capacities: 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB.
To manage the heat that comes with higher-speed operation, the GM9 includes a heat spreader made of copper foil and graphene. This combination helps keep the SSD cool without the need for bulky heatsinks, making it suitable for systems with limited airflow or space around the M.2 slot.

Instead of using onboard DRAM, the GM9 uses Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology. This approach allows the SSD to use a portion of the system’s memory for caching, helping reduce cost while still maintaining efficient performance. It also includes SLC cache, which temporarily stores data in a faster single-level cell format before writing it to the main storage area, improving write speed during short bursts of activity.
The GM9 reaches a sequential read speed of up to 14.5 GB/s, one of the highest among PCIe 5.0 SSDs currently available. Although write speeds have not been officially shared, the drive is expected to provide solid performance in real-world use, especially for large file transfers and demanding applications.

By following the NVMe 2.0 specification, the GM9 benefits from newer command sets and better power management features. Its single-sided design also improves compatibility with a wide range of systems.
The Predator GM9 is built for users who want high-speed storage without stepping into the workstation or enterprise market. With the growing availability of PCIe 5.0 motherboards and processors, more users will be able to take advantage of the speeds this drive offers.
Acer Predator Storage has not yet confirmed pricing or availability details, but the GM9 is expected to roll out through major retail channels in the coming weeks.
