FromSoftware Delays The Duskbloods to 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2

FromSoftware has confirmed that The Duskbloods, its upcoming multiplayer action game developed exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, will no longer launch in 2026. The studio has moved the release window to 2027, citing the need for additional development time. In a statement published through the game’s official X account, FromSoftware said development had reached the “final adjustment stage” and apologized to players who had been waiting for the game. The developer has not provided an exact release date or a more specific launch window.

The studio also addressed the response to The Duskbloods network test, which took place between August 21 and 23. According to FromSoftware, the test showed strong interest in the game’s combat system and strategic depth. The additional development time will be used to make final adjustments to the game rules and balance. However, the network test did not go entirely smoothly, as server problems forced the developer to end its first session earlier than planned. Despite being exclusive to Nintendo’s latest console, The Duskbloods reportedly attracted more test applications than Elden Ring Nightreign.

First revealed alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 in April 2025, The Duskbloods was originally targeting a 2026 release. The project is directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and features PvPvE multiplayer matches supporting up to eight players. Players will compete against one another while also facing environmental threats, with combat strategy playing an important role in each match. FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa, had previously maintained the 2026 release window in its financial reports and confirmed that there were no plans to bring the game to other platforms.

The move to 2027 gives FromSoftware additional time to refine the multiplayer experience before launch. Addressing the server problems encountered during the network test will also be important as the studio prepares the game for a wider player base. For now, Nintendo Switch 2 owners will have to wait longer for the developer’s next major project, with further release details yet to be announced.
