Keychron has launched the Carbon 60 HE 8K, a compact gaming keyboard that combines a forged carbon fiber case with carbon fiber composite keycaps and a matching plate. Priced at $234.99, the new 60% keyboard features Hall Effect magnetic switches, adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger, and an 8,000 Hz polling rate. It is available through Keychron’s official online store.

The Carbon 60 HE 8K follows the same basic architecture and tray-mounted design as the company’s ceramic Q16 HE 8K, but replaces the ceramic construction with forged carbon fiber. Keychron says its composite material contains 60% carbon fiber and is 10 times more rigid than plastic, providing a firm typing feel.

The keyboard weighs 740 grams, considerably less than the 1,650-gram aluminium Keychron Q2 HE 8K. Its lower weight makes it easier to carry between gaming setups, although its compact 60% layout means there is no dedicated function row, arrow keys, number pad, or navigation cluster. Users can access additional functions through secondary layers and customize the layout using Keychron Launcher.

Keychron has equipped the Carbon 60 HE 8K with its Ultra-Fast Lime magnetic switches. The keyboard supports adjustable actuation from 0.1 mm to 3.5 mm, with adjustments in 0.005 mm increments. Other gaming features include Rapid Trigger, SOCD handling, analog input, and Dynamic Keystroke.
Its 8,000 Hz polling rate allows the keyboard to report input states at intervals as short as 0.125 milliseconds. Actual input latency will depend on the keyboard’s processing and the connected system, so the polling rate alone does not determine total response time.

The carbon fiber composite keycaps use the Cherry profile rather than Keychron’s OSA or KSA profiles. They feature side-printed legends that do not shine through, keeping the top of the keyboard free from illuminated lettering. Internally, Keychron uses plate foam, bottom-case foam, and a PET pad rather than a more elaborate collection of sound-dampening materials.

The Carbon 60 HE 8K is priced at $234.99, placing it in the premium compact gaming keyboard segment. Its carbon fiber construction, magnetic switches, and extensive input customization target players who want a lightweight keyboard with adjustable key response. However, users who rely on dedicated arrow keys and navigation controls may need to adapt to its 60% layout.
