VGN is preparing to expand its gaming mouse lineup with the Falcon 3, a new tri-mode wireless gaming mouse that combines a lightweight 57±2g design with 8KHz polling, optical switches, and a 500mAh battery. The mouse is aimed at gamers who want high-speed input without moving to a heavier wireless model.
The Falcon 3 measures 127 × 63.9 × 39.9 mm and uses a medium-to-large hand grip design. Despite its larger dimensions, VGN has kept the weight around 57g, making the mouse suitable for users who prefer a larger shape but still want a relatively light device for gaming.
The mouse is built around Airoha’s AB1623 main control chip and will be available in different configurations. The Falcon 3 Explorer Edition uses the PixArt PAW3950 sensor, while the Explorer+ version upgrades to the PixArt PAW3955. Both versions are designed around the same overall Falcon 3 platform, with the sensor being one of the key differences between the two models.
VGN is also using Kailh 160M optical microswitches for the left and right mouse buttons. The optical switches are paired with a metal-edged scroll wheel that uses a TTC dustproof gold encoder. The wheel is also covered with an ice-feel coating, giving it a different surface texture from the rest of the mouse and potentially providing additional grip during scrolling.
The Falcon 3 supports three connection modes, giving users the option of wired USB-C, 2.4GHz wireless, and another wireless connection mode depending on the configuration. More importantly for competitive gaming, VGN says the mouse supports an 8KHz polling rate in both USB-C and 2.4GHz modes.
At an 8KHz polling rate, the mouse can send up to 8,000 position reports per second to the connected system. This reduces the reporting interval compared with the more common 1KHz mode. VGN also claims button latency as low as 0.175ms, putting fast input response at the center of the Falcon 3’s design.
Battery life is handled by a built-in 500mAh battery. The mouse also supports V-Charge 3C fast charging, which VGN says can deliver around 10 hours of battery life from just one minute of charging. A quick-charge feature like this can be useful with a wireless gaming mouse, particularly when the battery runs low during a gaming session.
VGN has not yet revealed the Falcon 3’s final pricing or detailed regional availability. The company is expected to provide more information about the Explorer and Explorer+ versions closer to the mouse’s launch. For now, its combination of a 57g body, high polling rate, PixArt sensors, optical switches, and fast charging makes the Falcon 3 another option for gamers looking for a lightweight high-performance mouse.
