Glorious is going back to basics with its latest mechanical gaming keyboard. The company has introduced the GMMK Eternal, a wired model that drops some of the newer keyboard trends in favor of conventional MX-style mechanical switches, a compact 1800 layout, and hot-swap support. Starting at $99.99, the keyboard also brings several features that are usually associated with more enthusiast-focused mechanical keyboards.
The GMMK Eternal uses GMMK Fox linear switches out of the box, with each switch rated for up to 50 million actuations and an actuation force between 50 and 60 gf. The PCB supports both 5-pin and 3-pin MX-style switches, giving users the option to replace the stock switches without soldering. This makes the keyboard easier to customize as users experiment with different switch types and typing characteristics.
Its 1800 layout is one of the main reasons the GMMK Eternal can appeal to both gamers and productivity-focused users. It retains a dedicated num pad while taking up less desk space than a traditional full-size keyboard. The keyboard connects through a detachable USB Type-A-to-C cable, keeping the design focused on wired desktop use rather than wireless connectivity.
Glorious has also included three layers of sound-damping material, consisting of a silicone pad and two layers of PU foam. The keyboard combines an aluminium integrated top plate with an ABS bottom case, while two-stage flip-out feet allow users to adjust the typing angle.
The keycaps are double-shot shine-through ABS models with an OEM profile, paired with per-key RGB lighting. While the stock keycaps should be familiar to users of mainstream gaming keyboards, enthusiasts may prefer replacing them with higher-end PBT alternatives.
