ATK Launches Phantom Wireless Gaming Mouse With PAW3955 Sensor and 8K Wireless Performance

The race to make gaming mice lighter has reached another level with the ATK Phantom, a new wireless model that weighs just 44±3 grams while packing a PAW3955 Master sensor, dual 8,000Hz polling, and optical switches. Rather than relying on a conventional plastic shell, ATK has built the Phantom around a hollow carbon fiber composite structure with staggered cutouts, targeting gamers who want a lightweight mouse without moving to an ultra-small design.

The ATK Phantom measures 119.7 x 62.5 x 37.3mm and uses a symmetrical shape designed for small-to-medium hands. ATK says the mouse supports claw, palm, and fingertip grips, with an evenly tapered waist and a forward-set peak intended to provide a more controlled grip during fast movements. The low-profile shape also keeps the mouse suitable for players who prefer a lighter and more compact gaming mouse.

The main feature is the hollow carbon fiber composite shell. ATK uses staggered geometric cutouts to reduce the overall weight while maintaining the rigidity of the structure. At 44 grams, the Phantom sits firmly in the lightweight gaming mouse category, but it does not sacrifice features typically found on more expensive competitive gaming mice.

Under the shell is PixArt’s PAW3955 Master sensor. The sensor offers a DPI range of up to 50,000, while ATK lists tracking performance of up to 850 IPS and acceleration of up to 75G. The lift-off distance can be adjusted from 0.7mm to 1.7mm across 11 levels, giving users more control over how the sensor behaves when the mouse is lifted and repositioned.

The Phantom also supports 8,000Hz polling in both wired and 2.4GHz wireless modes. ATK claims a button latency of just 0.174ms, although actual latency can vary depending on the system, connection mode, and configuration. The mouse uses Omron optical switches for the main buttons and a Raesha optical encoder for the scroll wheel, giving the internal hardware an optical-based design rather than relying entirely on traditional mechanical components.

Wireless operation comes from a 300mAh battery, with ATK-rated battery life of up to 200 hours when running at a 1,000Hz polling rate. That figure will naturally change at higher polling rates, particularly when using 8,000Hz wireless operation. The Phantom can also be connected through USB for wired gaming and charging.

ATK has equipped the mouse with its Nordic 54LM20 MCU and ApexShark MAX firmware. The company also provides ATK HUB v3.0 software, where users can adjust DPI, polling rate, button assignments, and other settings. This makes the mouse configurable for different games, sensitivities, and desktop setups.

The Phantom is available in Dune, Verge, Eon, and Prime finishes. The Ultimate package also includes a GEM 8K dongle, a Nano 8K dongle, an 8K paracord cable, and multiple sets of replacement skates. ATK includes small round dot skates as well as UHMWPE options, giving users the option to change the glide characteristics of the mouse based on their mouse pad and preference.

ATK currently lists the Blazing Sky Phantom Ultimate at $99.98, down from the listed $119.98 price. The product page currently shows the selected configuration as temporarily out of stock and available for pre-order, with ATK stating that orders will ship when inventory becomes available.

For competitive gamers, the combination of a 44-gram body, PAW3955 sensor, 8,000Hz wireless polling, and optical switches makes the ATK Blazing Sky Phantom an interesting option in the current lightweight mouse market. Its compact symmetrical shape should also appeal to players who prefer claw or fingertip grips, while the carbon fiber composite construction gives the Phantom a different approach to weight reduction compared with traditional lightweight gaming mice.
