Razer Prio Foldable Gaming Controller Shrinks to Credit-Card Size for $99.99

Razer has launched a gaming controller that takes up far less space than a conventional gamepad. The new Razer Prio folds down to roughly the size of a credit card, weighs only 101 grams, and opens into a controller with a full console-style layout. Unlike wireless mobile gamepads, it does not need a built-in battery or Bluetooth pairing, as it connects directly to a smartphone through USB-C. The Razer Prio is now available for $99.99.

The controller measures 107 x 67 x 23mm when folded and uses a twist-to-open mechanism. Once unfolded, it can hold smartphones with displays of up to 7 inches. Razer lists devices such as the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra as examples of phones that can be used with the Prio. The design also supports most slim and medium phone cases, so users do not necessarily have to remove their case before connecting the controller.

Razer has not cut down the controls to achieve the smaller footprint. The Prio includes two thumbsticks, a four-way D-pad, face buttons, bumpers and triggers. The thumbsticks use capacitive sensing rather than physical contacts. Razer says the contactless design is intended to reduce wear and the risk of stick drift. The controller also uses tactile face buttons and a tactile D-pad.

The USB-C connection also means there is no separate controller battery to charge. The Prio takes power from the connected smartphone and provides a direct connection designed for low-latency input. This makes the setup simpler for users who want to start playing without pairing another wireless accessory or remembering to charge a controller.

Razer is targeting both local mobile gaming and game streaming. The Prio works with iPhones running iOS 18 or later and Android devices running Android 14 or later. Supported services include Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam Link, PS Remote Play, and Razer PC Remote Play. A dedicated Razer Cortex Mobile button provides quick access to the game library through the company’s software.

The biggest difference between the Prio and most smartphone controllers is what happens when the gaming session ends. Instead of leaving a controller attached to the phone or carrying a larger gamepad in a bag, the two halves fold together into a much smaller package. At 101 grams, it also adds relatively little weight to a daily carry. Razer says the Prio is the first product in a new line of ultra-portable mobile gaming controllers.

At $99.99, the Razer Prio enters a market that already has several USB-C mobile controllers, but its folding design gives it a different focus. The controller is aimed at people who regularly use cloud gaming, remote play, or mobile games and want physical controls without carrying a conventional gamepad. For commuters, travelers, and anyone who keeps a controller in a small bag or pocket, the reduced folded size could be the main reason to consider it.
