Xiaomi Launches Poco X8 With 8,340mAh Battery, IP69K Rating and 120Hz AMOLED Display

Xiaomi has launched the Poco X8 with a feature set that prioritizes battery life and durability over flagship-level performance. The new mid-range smartphone arrives with an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery, a 6.83-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, and IP69K protection. It also gets Gorilla Glass Victus 2, giving the Poco X8 a tougher build than many phones in its price range.

The 8,340mAh battery is the biggest talking point. Xiaomi says the silicon-carbon cell offers 63% more capacity than the previous generation and can retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charging cycles. The battery supports 67W wired charging through USB-C and 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing the phone to power other devices when needed.

The Poco X8 uses a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with a 2772 x 1280 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The display reaches a claimed peak brightness of 3,500 nits and supports 12-bit color, DCI-P3 coverage, DC dimming, and 3,840Hz PWM dimming. Touch sampling reaches 240Hz, while Game Turbo can increase instantaneous touch sampling to a claimed 3,200Hz in supported scenarios.

Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covers the display, while the chassis carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings. Poco also says the phone has passed a two-meter, 72-hour water-resistance test and a three-meter drop test under specified testing conditions. An underwater camera mode is included for taking photos and videos underwater.

Performance comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, built on a 4nm process with an octa-core CPU reaching up to 2.4GHz. The phone is offered with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with the 256GB models using UFS 3.1 storage. Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 runs on top of Android 16.

The camera setup is more modest. The Poco X8 has a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with optical image stabilization, paired with a 2MP depth sensor. A 16MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. Both cameras support video recording up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Other features include dual SIM support, NFC, an infrared blaster, an in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, and Bluetooth 5.1. The phone measures 163.45 x 78.27 x 8.6mm and weighs 223 grams, so the large battery does make the Poco X8 a fairly substantial device.

Pricing varies by market. European launch pricing is €319 for the 8GB/256GB model and €359 for the 12GB/256GB version during the launch promotion, with higher regular prices afterward. Other markets have different configurations and pricing.

The Poco X8 is therefore aimed at buyers who want a large battery and a durable phone without paying flagship prices. Its 8,340mAh cell is considerably larger than what is common in this segment, while the 120Hz AMOLED display, IP69K protection, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 give the device a strong hardware package. The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 keeps it positioned as a mid-range phone rather than a performance-focused Poco F-series model.
