Grand Theft Auto 6 has received another major boost ahead of its November launch, with estimated GTA 6 pre-orders jumping 436% in a single day after Rockstar Games premiered its Extended Gameplay reveal on Netflix. The new data also shows that PlayStation 5 buyers are driving most of the recent demand, with PS5 pre-orders rising much faster than those on Xbox Series X|S.
The figures come from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower and cover August 27, the day Rockstar’s 26-minute-plus GTA 6 Extended Look premiered on Netflix. Estimated pre-orders increased 436% compared with the previous day. The momentum continued into August 28, with pre-order activity across the two days estimated to be 572% above the average level recorded during the previous 30 days.
The difference between the two console platforms is even larger. Sensor Tower estimates that GTA 6 pre-orders on PlayStation increased by 606% on August 27, while Xbox Series X|S pre-orders rose by 127%. PlayStation has also maintained the lead since Sensor Tower began tracking GTA 6 reservations in June.
The extended reveal gave players their most detailed look at GTA 6 so far, showing Jason and Lucia, Vice City, the wider Leonida region, driving, combat, robberies, police pursuits and several of the game’s open-world systems. Rockstar’s decision to give Netflix a temporary six-hour window for the presentation also created an unusual marketing push before the footage reached YouTube and Rockstar’s own platforms.
Sensor Tower’s latest estimates put cumulative GTA 6 pre-orders at roughly 4.55 million to 4.86 million units, depending on the tracking update, with PlayStation accounting for about 77% of the estimated total. The estimates translate to roughly $446 million to $476 million in potential revenue. Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive have not released an official pre-order figure, so these numbers should be treated as market estimates rather than confirmed sales.
The strong PlayStation performance also fits the circumstances surrounding the launch. GTA 6 is currently scheduled to arrive on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC version for launch, leaving current-generation consoles as the only confirmed platforms for the game’s release.
The latest surge suggests that many players were waiting for a longer look at GTA 6 before placing their reservations. Rockstar had kept detailed gameplay information limited, making the Netflix presentation one of the most important marketing moments for the game so far.
For Xbox, the 127% increase still represents a substantial rise in demand, but the gap with PlayStation is difficult to ignore. PS5 pre-orders increased nearly five times as much as Xbox pre-orders on the day of the reveal, reinforcing PlayStation’s existing lead in GTA 6 reservations.
