ARCTIC Launches Freezer 36-S CPU Air Cooler With Single P12 Pro Fan, Targets Budget PC Builders

ARCTIC has expanded its CPU cooling lineup with the introduction of the Freezer 36-S, a new air cooler aimed at users looking for solid thermal performance at a lower price point. Built as an alternative to the existing Freezer 36, the new model keeps much of the core cooling design while using a simplified configuration intended to reduce cost without moving away from mainstream desktop performance needs.

The ARCTIC Freezer 36-S is built around a single-tower heatsink design paired with four 6 mm direct-touch copper heat pipes. This layout is designed to move heat directly from the CPU into the cooling assembly for efficient thermal transfer under gaming, content creation, and daily workloads. Unlike the standard Freezer 36, which ships with a dual-fan arrangement, the Freezer 36-S uses a single 120 mm P12 Pro fan.

According to ARCTIC, the decision to move to a single-fan design is part of the effort to create a more affordable version of the cooler while maintaining comparable cooling capability. The company has also adopted a wire-clip mounting system for fan installation, another design choice focused on keeping the cooler simple and cost-conscious.

The included P12 Pro fan is designed around stable airflow delivery, higher static pressure, and controlled acoustics. ARCTIC notes that the fan uses precise balancing and an advanced bearing system to reduce vibration during operation. PWM speed control is also supported, allowing the fan to automatically adjust its RPM based on CPU temperature and system demand.

The Freezer 36-S will be available in black and white editions, giving users more flexibility when matching system color themes. ARGB versions are also part of the lineup for builders who prefer integrated lighting in their systems.

Platform compatibility covers both current Intel and AMD desktop ecosystems. The cooler comes with native support for Intel LGA1851 and LGA1700 sockets, alongside AMD AM5 and AM4 platforms, making it suitable for many recently released processors.

ARCTIC has also focused on mounting stability and contact efficiency. The cooler includes an Intel contact frame designed to improve mounting pressure and contact consistency during installation. A tube of MX-7 thermal paste is bundled in the package to help maximize heat transfer between the processor and cooler base.

With a reduced fan configuration, broad platform support, and multiple finish options, the Freezer 36-S enters the market as another option for users building performance-focused PCs without stretching their cooling budget. More information regarding specifications and product details is available through ARCTIC’s official product listing.
