The mouse comparison platform EloShapes has introduced a new 3D model viewer, expanding how users evaluate mouse shapes before making a purchase. The update builds on the site’s existing outline-based comparison system, which has been widely used by gamers and professionals to study size and form factor differences across models.
With this change, EloShapes now provides 3D scans of actual production units, allowing users to examine finer details that were previously difficult to interpret through 2D silhouettes. Subtle curves, side slopes, and height variations are now easier to identify, giving a clearer picture of how a mouse may feel during extended use.
The ability to overlay multiple mouse models within the same view improves direct comparison, which is especially useful when evaluating similar designs. It also provides solid and shaded rendering modes, allowing overlaps and shape differences to be seen more clearly.
Users can also reposition and rotate models, adjusting alignment based on different reference points. This flexibility allows comparisons that go beyond basic front or top views. A built-in ruler adds another layer of utility, enabling measurements of specific areas such as grip width, hump height, and length.


Another feature included in the 3D viewer is the sensor position marker. This detail can be relevant for users who are sensitive to how a mouse tracks during movement, particularly in fast-paced gaming scenarios where small differences can affect consistency.
Models that support 3D viewing are marked with an icon in the search list, making them easy to find. According to the developer, the library already covers a selection of widely used mice, and more entries will be added over time.
At present, the platform does not offer a way to download the 3D files. This has been a common request following the feature’s release, especially among users interested in creating physical mock-ups through 3D printing. While there is no timeline for such functionality, the feedback highlights growing interest in deeper hands-on evaluation tools.
The addition of 3D models marks a notable step for EloShapes, giving users more control when comparing designs and helping reduce uncertainty when choosing a mouse based on shape and ergonomics.
