Orbital has officially announced the Pathfinder Ghost, a refreshed version of its modular gaming mouse that builds on the original Pathfinder concept with new hardware improvements, additional customization options, and a reduced launch price. The update continues Orbital’s focus on highly configurable peripherals aimed at users who prefer adjustable hardware over fixed designs.
The Pathfinder Ghost keeps the same modular foundation as the original model but introduces several notable upgrades. One of the key highlights is the addition of four new interchangeable shape modules. These attachments allow users to modify the grip style and overall ergonomics of the mouse, significantly expanding its configuration potential. With these additions, Orbital claims the system now supports over 5,000 possible combinations, making it one of the most flexible designs in the gaming mouse category.
Internally, the mouse has also received a hardware refresh. The PCB has been redesigned to support modular switches, giving users more control over click feel and responsiveness. It now runs on the Nordic nRF54L15 MCU, which is expected to improve efficiency and input handling, although Orbital has not shared detailed performance metrics at this stage. The scroll wheel has also been updated with a redesigned mag-alloy structure, though the company has not specified the exact changes in feel or durability.
In terms of design, Orbital is introducing a special edition version of the Pathfinder Ghost featuring a clear shell finish. This translucent design exposes the internal components and is made using a clear plastic alloy, most likely based on polycarbonate materials. The visual redesign adds a distinct aesthetic option for users who prefer a more exposed hardware look.
Pricing is another major change with this release. The Pathfinder Ghost will launch at $149, down from the previous $189 bundle that included the base mouse and exploration kit. An additional expansion kit will be available separately for $29. However, Orbital has confirmed that this version will be produced as a limited, made-to-order run starting April 30, making availability restricted.
The company also noted that the new expansion set will be compatible with the standard black Pathfinder model. This suggests that many of the improvements introduced with the Ghost edition may eventually transition into the main product line, expanding long-term support for the ecosystem.
With its focus on modular design, updated internals, and broader customization, the Pathfinder Ghost continues Orbital’s push into highly adaptable gaming peripherals aimed at enthusiasts and competitive users alike.
