Minisforum MS-A2 Mini Workstation Launches with Ryzen 9 9955HX, Dual 10GbE, and Up to 96GB DDR5

Minisforum has announced the MS-A2 mini PC, expanding its lineup of compact high-performance systems aimed at professional and home lab users. The new Mini PC succeeds the MS-A1 and targets workloads such as software development, virtualization, edge computing, and small business server deployments. With a chassis measuring 196 × 189 × 48 mm and a total volume of 1.78 liters, the MS-A2 is designed to deliver workstation and server-class features in a small form factor.

Powering the system is AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX processor, a high-end mobile chip rated for up to 100 W turbo TDP. The CPU can be configured with up to 96 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, offering ample capacity for intensive multitasking and virtual machine workloads. Storage options include three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots with support for up to 12 TB of total NVMe capacity. The MS-A2 also supports U.2 NVMe 22110 drives, enabling storage expansion of up to 23 TB depending on the selected configuration.

Networking is a key feature of the MS-A2. The system includes dual 10 Gb SFP+ ports alongside dual 2.5 Gb Ethernet ports, making it suitable for high-speed data transfers, network storage, and enterprise-style lab environments. Wireless connectivity is handled through Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, covering modern networking standards for office and home use.

The port selection is extensive for a mini PC. The front panel includes two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 2.0 port, and a 3.5 mm audio combo jack. On the rear, users will find two USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports with DisplayPort 2.0 Alt Mode support, one HDMI 2.1 output, two 2.5 Gb RJ45 ports, two 10 Gb SFP+ ports, one USB 3.1 Gen 2, and one USB 3.1 Gen 1 port. Graphics duties are handled by the integrated Radeon 610M, which is suitable for office and productivity tasks. For users requiring additional performance or connectivity, the MS-A2 includes a full-length PCIe 4.0 ×8 slot that can also be bifurcated into two PCIe ×4 links for expansion cards.

In the US market, the Minisforum MS-A2 starts at $799 for the barebones configuration without RAM or storage. A model with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD is priced at $1,199, while the top-tier version with 96 GB of memory and dual 2 TB SSDs is listed at $1,919 on the official Minisforum store. With its compact footprint, high-speed networking, and flexible storage options, the MS-A2 is positioned as a mini workstation and small form factor server solution for advanced users.
