CAPCOM has shared new details about Resident Evil Requiem ahead of the game’s planned launch in late February. In an interview with the Japanese PlayStation Blog, director Koshi Nakanishi discussed PlayStation 5 Pro performance options, DualSense controller features, and recent optimization work.
According to Nakanishi, Resident Evil Requiem will offer two main display modes on the PS5 Pro. With ray tracing enabled, the game runs at 4K output and 60 frames per second while using full ray-traced lighting. Players who disable ray tracing can access higher frame rates, with support for up to 120 frames per second on compatible displays. CAPCOM states that the average frame rate in this mode sits around 90 FPS, following extensive optimization efforts.
Nakanishi noted that the higher frame rate mode has a noticeable impact on gameplay feel. He explained that smoother motion provides more visual information during movement, making the game world feel more responsive, especially during combat and exploration.
The interview also highlighted how the development team is using PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller to reinforce the horror experience. Haptic feedback is used to convey physical interactions, such as a zombie grabbing or biting the player character. Adaptive triggers adjust resistance depending on the weapon being used, while reloading actions trigger vibrations and audio through the controller’s built-in speaker.

Puzzle interactions also make use of these features. When rotating objects, such as containers holding jewels, players can feel and hear the contents shifting through controller feedback. CAPCOM added that these DualSense features are expected to be supported on PC when using the controller.
In related news, YouTuber Punish has released nearly 18 minutes of new gameplay footage featuring Leon Kennedy. Leon, one of the game’s two protagonists, was officially confirmed only last month, making this video one of the most detailed looks at his role so far.
With its February release approaching, CAPCOM continues to share more information on Resident Evil Requiem’s performance and gameplay features.
