VXE Launches Dragonfly R1S: Lightweight $18.99 Wireless Gaming Mouse with Tri-Mode Connectivity

VXE has introduced the Dragonfly R1S, the latest addition to its Dragonfly R1 series of gaming mice. The R1S maintains the lightweight design of previous R1 models while offering updated internal components and wireless options.

The Dragonfly R1S weighs 55 grams and supports tri-mode connectivity, including USB-C, NearLink—a wireless standard introduced by Huawei in 2024—and Bluetooth 5.2. The mouse uses the Xhero AI sensor and HiSilicon BS20 MCU, with a reduced polling rate of 1 kHz. Its symmetrical shape is designed for small- to medium-sized hands, with dimensions of 120.6 mm × 64.1 mm × 37.6 mm, a low rear hump, sloped main clicks, two programmable side buttons, and vertical sidewalls. Its design is similar to models such as the Pulsar X2 and Endgame Gear OP1 8k.

The Dragonfly R1S offers up to 150 hours of battery life, making it suitable for extended gaming sessions. While VXE aimed to keep the price low at $18.99, some trade-offs are noticeable. The matte-textured shell has no protective coating, which could lead to shine with regular use. Color options are limited to black and white, compared to other R1 models that offer more variety.

Despite these compromises, the R1S remains customizable through VXE’s Windows-only driver, allowing users to remap buttons and adjust settings. It positions itself as a budget-friendly alternative for gamers seeking a lightweight wireless mouse with multiple connectivity options. The combination of a small, ergonomic design, long battery life, and tri-mode support makes the VXE Dragonfly R1S an accessible choice in the entry-level gaming mouse segment.
