At CES 2026, CHERRY XTRFY unveiled a new series of keyboards featuring magnetic switches based on TMR (tunnel magnetoresistance) technology. The company emphasized that the new line offers improved precision and lower power consumption, allowing users to maintain consistent performance in both wired and wireless modes.

The first model in the series, the MX 8.2 Pro TMR Wireless, is scheduled for release on January 29, with a retail price of $249.99. The keyboard adopts a tenkeyless (TKL) layout, removing the numeric keypad while keeping an 80% form factor suitable for competitive gaming and everyday productivity. It features an aluminum alloy top cover and PBT keycaps for durability, and includes five layers of sound-absorbing material to reduce typing noise.

The MX 8.2 Pro TMR is equipped with CHERRY MK Crystal Magnetic switches, which use TMR sensing to achieve a trigger accuracy of up to 0.01mm. These switches provide a smooth and linear typing experience, which is designed to support gaming scenarios that require precise control. In addition, the keyboard supports hot-swappable MX mechanical switches, giving users the option to choose between magnetic and mechanical switches depending on their preferences. Magnetic switches are applied to the three rightmost rows of keys, which are generally used for gaming, while mechanical switches offer tactile feedback suitable for office work and general typing.

In terms of responsiveness, the MX 8.2 Pro TMR Wireless supports an 8000 Hz polling rate in both wired and wireless modes. This high polling rate is made possible by a high-frequency main control chip integrated into the keyboard. CHERRY’s MagCrate software allows users to customize each key, including adjusting the actuation point and assigning multiple actions based on press depth or duration. This level of customization provides flexibility for both gaming and productivity applications.

The keyboard is powered by an 8000mAh battery, capable of supporting up to 300 hours of use in wireless mode. Users can connect the keyboard via USB, 2.4 GHz wireless, or Bluetooth 5.3. The device weighs approximately 960 grams, giving it a stable base for both typing and gaming sessions.

Alongside the MX 8.2 Pro TMR, CHERRY XTRFY announced the K5 Pro TMR, which is expected to launch in spring 2026. The K5 Pro TMR is an upgraded version of the original K5 keyboard and features a 65% compact layout. It comes with MK Crystal Magnetic switches based on the same TMR technology as the MX 8.2 Pro and supports the MagCrate software for key customization. The polling rate has also been increased from 1000 Hz to 8000 Hz, improving performance for gaming and other high-response tasks.

With these new keyboards, CHERRY XTRFY expands its lineup of magnetic switch devices, offering options that balance gaming performance, precise input, and long-lasting battery life. Both models provide high levels of customization, allowing users to configure keys and switch types according to their preferences. The MX 8.2 Pro TMR targets users who want a larger TKL layout with wireless capability, while the K5 Pro TMR caters to those who prefer a more compact design.
By integrating TMR technology, magnetic switches, and extensive customization, CHERRY XTRFY aims to deliver keyboards that support both competitive gaming and everyday productivity. The new series represents the brand’s continued focus on innovation in keyboard design and input performance.
