The Outer Worlds 2 Hotfix 1.0.4.1 Released with Crash, Quest, and Visual Fixes

Obsidian Entertainment has deployed Hotfix 1.0.4.1 for The Outer Worlds 2, addressing several crash issues, quest progression errors, and platform-specific visual bugs. The new update is available now across PC and consoles, and it will automatically download through Steam and other supported clients.

This update addresses a persistent problem where corrupted data in favorited item lists could cause the game to crash during saves. It also includes fixes for several uncommon crashes that occurred in various gameplay situations. On PlayStation 5, the patch corrects an issue that caused the game to crash when launched with only the PlayGo chunk installed and progressing beyond the Horizon Point Station section.

The update also corrects a gameplay issue involving the Plug Puller Perk, which previously caused encounters to halt unexpectedly. In addition, the patch ensures that players’ conversation history no longer resets randomly during play sessions, and previously cleared sections of the game map will now remain cleared after reloading.

Hotfix 1.0.4.1 includes several quest-related fixes aimed at improving continuity and player progression. Players who were unable to continue Inez’s questline after meeting her at the Ministry of Accuracy should now be able to progress her argument with Milverstreet as intended. Inez will now also deliver her proper introduction dialogue during the first encounter, replacing an issue where she occasionally used regular companion lines.

Other quest adjustments include a fix for the unintended early appearance of OA Troopers in the ACHQ, which previously blocked progress for some players. Obsidian advises that players must load a save file made before this issue occurred, as a retroactive fix is still being evaluated. Otto’s Lock in Free Market Station has also been corrected and now functions as intended, allowing the quest to be completed.

The developer also noted that two additional quest fixes have been implemented, though specific details were withheld to avoid revealing story spoilers. Players can access the complete list of changes through the official patch notes.

The update improves performance and image clarity across platforms. PlayStation 5 Pro now uses Temporal Super Resolution (TSR) for upscaling, resolving blurry grass textures on Paradise Island, and reducing unwanted lighting noise throughout the game. Xbox players will benefit from a fix addressing a visual artifact that caused blue noise to appear along the edges of grass and computer monitors.

Audio issues have also been refined, including an adjustment to the double jump boots sound effect, which previously played at a higher-than-intended volume.

The Outer Worlds 2 Hotfix 1.0.4.1 is available now and will automatically install the next time players launch their platform client. The patch continues Obsidian Entertainment’s post-launch support efforts, focusing on improving stability and ensuring consistent gameplay performance.

Players can review the full changelog and additional details through the game’s official community or support page.
