Borderlands 4 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC Now Available, Switch 2 Version Arrives in October 3

2K and Gearbox Software have released Borderlands 4, the latest entry in the looter-shooter series, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A version for Nintendo Switch 2 will arrive on October 3, 2025.

Story Overview


Set on the planet Kairos, Borderlands 4 introduces players to the Timekeeper, a ruler who has controlled the world for centuries through implants called Bolts and an army known as The Order. Players will fight across four regions, recruit allies, and face both new and returning characters as they attempt to free Kairos from his rule.


Gearbox has expanded the series with several new features:

  • Vault Hunter Skill Trees offer more customization than previous titles.
  • Dynamic Exploration with zone transitions, side missions, and random events.
  • Traversal Mechanics, including the Digirunner vehicle for fast travel and combat integration.
  • Co-op Multiplayer Enhancements with instanced loot, level scaling, and persistent party systems for groups.

Three editions are available:

  • Standard Edition – $69.99 (base game)
  • Deluxe Edition – $99.99 (includes four DLC packs, Vault Cards, cosmetics, and bonus gear)
  • Super Deluxe Edition – $129.99 (adds two new Story Packs, Vault Hunters, additional regions, and exclusive cosmetic bundles)

On PC, the game supports NVIDIA GeForce NOW, with an optimized Game Ready Driver available.

Post-Launch Content

Gearbox confirmed ongoing support with free and paid downloadable content. Details will be shared on the official Borderlands website in the coming weeks.
