GPD has officially unveiled the WIN 5, marking the first handheld gaming PC to be released with AMD’s Strix Halo-based Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. Designed to deliver high-end gaming performance in a portable format, the WIN 5 positions itself above most current handhelds in raw power, with benchmark figures reportedly surpassing NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 Mobile GPU.

At the core of the device is the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, an APU featuring 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and a Radeon 8060S integrated GPU with 40 compute units built on AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture. The chip operates within a 55W to 75W TDP range, allowing for desktop-grade performance in demanding gaming and productivity workloads.

GPD offers the WIN 5 in several configurations, with memory options ranging from 32GB to 128GB LPDDR5X running at 8000 MT/s. Storage capacities include 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB NVMe SSDs, with expansion supported through both a MicroSD card slot and a mini SSD slot.

The WIN 5’s 7-inch IPS display has a resolution of 1920×1080 and supports refresh rates up to 120Hz. It includes AMD FreeSync Premium for smoother visuals and features 100% sRGB coverage for accurate color reproduction. Despite the advanced hardware, the device maintains a compact size at 267mm in length, making it smaller than several competing handheld PCs such as the Steam Deck.

The WIN 5 features a detachable 80Wh battery pack. Without the battery, it weighs 565g, and with it attached, the weight increases to 915g. It can also run using a 180W AI PC adapter, enabling uninterrupted gameplay when plugged into a power source.

For controls, the WIN 5 integrates capacitive joysticks designed for competitive gameplay, offering zero dead zone and zero drift. The triggers use Hall Effect technology with a hair-trigger mode capable of 0.1mm precision and 0.1ms response time. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, two USB Type-C ports (USB 3.2 Gen 2 and USB 4.0), and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Although exact pricing has not yet been confirmed, GPD has stated that the WIN 5 will be priced below ASUS’s ROG Flow Z13 (2025), which sells for $2,299. This suggests a likely retail price under $2,000, placing it among the most capable yet relatively affordable high-performance handheld gaming PCs available in 2025.
