At this year’s Taipei International Computer Show (Computex 2025), Sharkoon introduced a new lineup of mechanical keyboards under the SKILLER SGK50 WOOD PBT series. This launch includes three different models aimed at users who prefer natural wood finishes in their desktop setups. Each model offers a distinct layout, allowing users to choose based on their space requirements and typing preferences. A barebones edition, which ships without switches and keycaps, is also available for custom keyboard enthusiasts.
The new lineup consists of the SKILLER SGK50 S2 Wood PBT (96% layout), SKILLER SGK50 S3 Wood PBT (75% layout), and the SKILLER SGK50 S4 Gen2 Wood PBT (60% layout). All three models feature genuine wooden frames paired with high-quality PBT keycaps, targeting a niche segment of users who appreciate a combination of tactile performance and classic material aesthetics.

Each keyboard in the series is designed with hot-swappable switch sockets, allowing users to easily replace mechanical switches without soldering. The default switch option is Gateron’s G Pro 3.0 Yellow, a linear switch known for its smooth keystroke and quiet operation. These keyboards also support the QMK and VIA open-source firmware platforms, offering advanced key remapping and macro customization for users who require more control over their input devices.
Internally, the keyboards are built with a PC (polycarbonate) positioning plate and silicone dampening material. This design helps reduce vibration and enhances the acoustics of the keyboard, contributing to a deeper and fuller keystroke sound. The use of silicone also adds a degree of cushioning, improving overall typing comfort.

The inclusion of multiple layout options—ranging from the near full-size 96% to the compact 60%—means that Sharkoon is catering to a wide variety of use cases. The SKILLER SGK50 S2 Wood PBT, with its 96% layout, includes a full-function row and numpad in a compact form factor. The 75% SKILLER SGK50 S3 Wood PBT drops the numpad while maintaining dedicated arrow keys and function row access. The most compact of the trio, the 60% SKILLER SGK50 S4 Gen2, is geared towards minimalists and gamers who want a small footprint on their desk.
With this release, Sharkoon is clearly targeting mechanical keyboard users who value both functionality and a distinct visual style. While most keyboards on the market use plastic or metal cases, the wood-framed Sharkoon SKILLER SGK50 WOOD PBT series stands out by offering a different aesthetic without compromising on modern keyboard features.
Pricing and availability details have not yet been announced, but Sharkoon is expected to release them later this quarter.
