ASRock Confirms WRX90 WS EVO and TRX50 WS Motherboard Support for AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series

ASRock has announced that its high-end workstation motherboards, the WRX90 WS EVO and TRX50 WS, are now fully compatible with AMD’s newly launched Ryzen Threadripper 9000X and Threadripper PRO 9000WX processors. Users can enable support by updating to the latest BIOS version available through ASRock’s official support page.

The announcement comes shortly after AMD introduced its latest generation of Threadripper CPUs based on the “Zen 5” microarchitecture. The Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series targets high-performance desktop (HEDT) applications, while the Threadripper PRO 9000WX series is aimed at professional workstations and enterprise-grade workloads.

The new Ryzen Threadripper 9000X lineup includes three SKUs: the 24-core 9960X, the 32-core 7970X, and the 64-core 7980X. These CPUs are designed for demanding creative tasks such as 3D rendering, video production, and software development that require extensive multi-threaded performance and high I/O bandwidth.

On the professional side, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000WX series starts with the 12-core 7945WX and scales all the way up to the 96-core flagship 7995WX. These processors offer features such as 8-channel DDR5 memory and extensive PCIe Gen 5 lane support, which are critical for large-scale simulations, data analysis, and multi-GPU workloads.

ASRock’s WRX90 WS EVO is built for the sTR5 socket and supports the WRX90 chipset, offering capabilities suitable for the PRO series processors. It features support for ECC registered memory, multiple PCIe 5.0 slots for GPU and storage expansion, and a robust VRM design to handle the power requirements of the 96-core 7995WX.

The TRX50 WS motherboard is aimed at HEDT users, supporting the Threadripper 9000X series. It also uses the sTR5 socket and features DDR5 memory support, multiple M.2 and PCIe Gen 5 slots, and a server-grade layout to ensure durability and performance in extended workloads.

Both motherboards are tailored to take advantage of the increased power and efficiency gains offered by AMD’s Zen 5 architecture. Users planning to upgrade to the latest generation of Threadripper processors can do so by applying the new BIOS firmware, which ensures full compatibility and optimal system stability.

With AMD continuing to expand its high-performance CPU portfolio, ASRock’s prompt support for the new Threadripper lineup ensures system builders and professionals can quickly transition to the latest platform without needing new hardware. This makes the ASRock WRX90 WS EVO and TRX50 WS viable long-term solutions for users looking to maximize performance on the sTR5 platform.
