GALAX has officially introduced its latest Hall of Fame (HOF) graphics card in the Chinese hardware market, marking the arrival of the first ultra high-end custom design based on NVIDIA‘s next-generation “Blackwell” architecture. The newly announced GeForce RTX 5080 HOF OC LAB Plus-X Edition features an almost entirely white aesthetic, adorned with GALAX’s signature “Plus-X” crown-like structure that incorporates ARGB lighting, reinforcing its status as a premium offering within the brand’s lineup.
Contrary to speculation that GALAX would debut its new HOF series with the GeForce RTX 5090D, the company has opted for the RTX 5080 GPU as the foundation for its latest flagship. This decision has led to mixed reactions from industry watchers, as some expected the first HOF release of 2025 to utilize NVIDIA’s top-tier gaming GPU. Nevertheless, the GeForce RTX 5080 HOF OC LAB Plus-X Edition boasts an impressive set of features, including an advanced 12-layer PCB, a robust 14+6+6 phase power delivery system, and high-current 70A DR-MOS power stages, ensuring strong overclocking potential and reliable performance under heavy workloads.
This generation introduces a revised power connector configuration. Unlike its predecessor, the GeForce RTX 4080 HOF OC LAB Plus-X, which featured dual 16-pin power connectors, the new RTX 5080 HOF OC LAB Plus-X Edition uses a single 16-pin connector. This streamlined design hints at potential improvements in power efficiency and cable management, though precise power draw figures remain unofficial.
At the time of writing, GALAX has not published a full product page detailing complete specifications. However, reports suggest that the card’s total power consumption could be around 400 W, aligning with many high-end custom models from board partners. The card is equipped with a dual BIOS system, allowing users to switch between standard and performance-enhanced modes. The overclocked “P-Mode” configuration pushes the boost clock to 2730 MHz, providing enthusiasts with a higher level of performance.
Cooling is another area where GALAX has made refinements. The RTX 5080 HOF OC LAB Plus-X Edition employs a triple-fan air cooling solution, consisting of two 102 mm fans flanking a central 92 mm unit. These “Frost Ring Blades” are designed to optimize airflow while maintaining low noise levels. Additionally, GALAX has retained its “Hyper Boost” feature, which allows users to engage maximum cooling performance via a switch located on the I/O bracket. This function forces the triple-fan system to operate at peak RPMs, catering to overclockers and extreme users.
A new feature making its way into GALAX’s design is an error detection system, seemingly inspired by ZOTAC’s “Safety Light” diagnostic tool. While specifics are unclear, this system is expected to provide users with real-time status indicators, potentially assisting in troubleshooting and stability monitoring.
The GALAX GeForce RTX 5080 HOF OC LAB Plus-X Edition is not currently available for purchase in China, and there is no official word on pricing or global availability. Enthusiasts will have to wait for further announcements from GALAX regarding retail launch details and potential regional releases.
