Xiaomi Introduces REDMI Projector 5 Pro With 120Hz Support and 1000 CVIA Lumens

Xiaomi has expanded its home entertainment lineup by introducing the REDMI Projector 5 and REDMI Projector 5 Pro in China. The two new smart projectors offer native Full HD resolution, automatic image adjustment, and integrated gimbal designs for flexible placement. The standard model is priced at 999 yuan (approximately $139), while the REDMI Projector 5 Pro is available for 1,899 yuan (approximately $264).

The new REDMI Projector series is aimed at users looking for an affordable home theater setup without requiring complicated installation. Both models include automatic image optimization features and support large-screen projection, making them suitable for movies, TV shows, gaming, and everyday entertainment.

The standard REDMI Projector 5 comes with a built-in metal gimbal that supports 360-degree angle adjustment, allowing users to project onto walls or ceilings without using additional accessories. It delivers 400 CVIA lumens of brightness and features a native 1920 × 1080 (1080p) resolution. Xiaomi has equipped the projector with a 1.2:1 throw ratio, enabling projection sizes of up to 120 inches while maintaining a relatively short viewing distance.

To simplify setup, the projector includes a built-in Time-of-Flight (ToF) laser sensing module that supports seamless autofocus and automatic keystone correction. These functions automatically adjust the projected image whenever the projector is repositioned. The projector is powered by hardware featuring 1GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, providing enough space for the built-in smart operating system and supported applications.

The REDMI Projector 5 Pro builds on the standard model with several hardware improvements designed for larger rooms and improved multimedia performance. Brightness increases to 1000 CVIA lumens, making the projector better suited for environments with more ambient light. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother motion during supported video playback and gaming.

Unlike the standard version, the Pro model supports 30-degree wide-angle side projection, giving users additional flexibility when placing the projector away from the center of the screen. Xiaomi has also upgraded the optical system with a sealed optical engine and an all-glass lens, which the company says provides around a 10% improvement in image clarity compared to the previous generation.

Audio performance has also received an upgrade. The projector includes dual 10W speakers, a passive woofer, and Dolby Audio support for a fuller sound experience without requiring external speakers. The REDMI Projector 5 Pro is powered by the MediaTek MT9660 processor, paired with 2GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Xiaomi has announced the following launch prices in China:

  • REDMI Projector 5999 yuan (around $139)
  • REDMI Projector 5 Pro1,899 yuan (around $264)

At the time of writing, Xiaomi has not confirmed a global release for either model. However, the REDMI Projector 5 series offers an attractive combination of native Full HD projection, automatic image adjustment, flexible installation, and smart entertainment features at competitive prices.
