Thunderobot Releases VIC68 Ultra Magnetic Switch Keyboard with CNC Aluminum Design

Thunderobot has introduced the VIC68 Ultra, a wired magnetic switch keyboard built around a compact 68% layout. The new model combines CNC-machined aluminum construction with a performance-focused switch system, delivering low latency and customizable features.

The keyboard chassis is made from 6063 aluminum using CNC technology, resulting in a solid and durable frame. It is available in a parrot green finish and integrates RGB lighting effects for user customization. To enhance comfort during extended use, the package includes an Alcantara palm rest, while detachable metal feet provide flexible positioning for different desk setups.

The VIC68 Ultra follows the 68% keyboard format, balancing space-saving dimensions with essential functionality. Despite its smaller footprint, the design incorporates a multifunctional control knob located in the upper right corner. This knob can be assigned to volume adjustment or other programmable tasks, expanding usability beyond standard keys.

At the core of the keyboard are TTC Magneto RGB magnetic switches. These switches support full hot-swappability, giving users the ability to replace them without soldering. To complement the switch system, the keyboard comes with original-height PBT keycaps manufactured using five-sided thermal sublimation. This ensures long-term resistance to wear and preserves keycap legends even under heavy use.

Performance is one of the main highlights of the VIC68 Ultra. The keyboard supports a 265K scan rate and an 8KHz polling rate, which translates into a reported latency of 0.083 milliseconds. Each key benefits from 0.001mm real-time accuracy, allowing precise detection of input. Users can also adjust dead zones, giving flexibility in defining actuation sensitivity to match different usage preferences.

By combining aluminum construction, hot-swappable magnetic switches, and low-latency performance, the VIC68 Ultra is positioned as a high-performance compact keyboard. The inclusion of Alcantara material for the palm rest and metal feet reflects a focus on both comfort and stability. With its 68% form factor and programmable features, the model aims to appeal to users seeking a balance between compact design and advanced technical specifications.

Thunderobot’s release of the VIC68 Ultra expands its keyboard lineup, offering an option that integrates precise input performance with a durable CNC aluminum frame and customizable key functions.
