THIRDREALITY introduced the MK1 Smart Mechanical Keyboard at CES 2025, a product designed to merge desktop productivity with smart home management. The MK1 allows users to control connected devices and scenes directly from their keyboard, eliminating the need to switch applications or use voice assistants.
The keyboard follows a standard ANSI layout but includes a dedicated Matter key and programmable function keys. These can be mapped to smart home actions such as adjusting lights, changing climate settings, opening or closing curtains, or activating entire automation routines. Unlike traditional hubs, the MK1 acts as a trigger device, sending commands over Wi-Fi to existing smart platforms.

The MK1 is compatible with Apple Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant, and other Matter-enabled systems. This cross-platform integration ensures it works with a wide range of connected devices across brands without requiring an additional hub.

As a mechanical keyboard, the MK1 maintains features aimed at regular desktop use. It offers quiet switches suited for both productivity and extended typing, along with 44 customizable RGB lighting effects. Users can match the keyboard’s lighting to personal preferences or room setups.
In an official statement, a THIRDREALITY spokesperson said:
“The idea behind MK1 is to let users trigger smart home actions while staying focused at their desk. It’s not a hub—it’s a keyboard that talks to your smart home, making control more accessible, efficient, and intuitive.”
The device also supports multiple operating systems, making it suitable for both home and office environments. Whether adjusting a workspace for focus, preparing for a video call, or activating a home entertainment setup, the MK1 offers one-touch smart home control.
The THIRDREALITY MK1 Smart Mechanical Keyboard is priced at $79.99 and will be available later in 2025 through retail and online channels.
