The Precinct Launches on PC and Consoles, Brings 1980s Police Action to Modern Players

Kwalee and Fallen Tree Games have officially launched The Precinct, a new neon-noir action sandbox game now available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Priced at $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99, the game invites players into the crime-ridden streets of Averno City, where they step into the shoes of rookie police officer Nick Cordell Jr.

Set against the backdrop of 1980s America, The Precinct combines a sandbox open-world experience with elements of police simulation. Players patrol the city on foot, by squad car, and even by helicopter, responding to a range of crimes that scale from routine traffic violations to gang shootouts and large-scale heists. The game is designed to reflect a living city environment with dynamic weather, a day-night cycle, and constantly shifting criminal activity.

To mark the game’s release, a launch trailer has been released showcasing a mix of cinematic sequences and real-time gameplay. The footage highlights vehicle chases, shootouts, and interactive elements such as roadblocks and squad-based backup mechanics. This trailer serves to illustrate the variety of gameplay scenarios players can expect while maintaining a tone reminiscent of classic police dramas.

Averno City, the fictional setting for the game, is built as a detailed sandbox world that reacts to the player’s actions. From back-alley drug deals to high-speed chases through downtown streets, the game encourages exploration and tactical decision-making. Players can choose to handle situations solo or call in assistance through an integrated support system, which includes deploying squad cars, spike strips, and roadblocks.

Steam users can also find the game as part of several bundle offers that include other law enforcement or investigative titles, such as Shadows of Doubt and Police Simulator: Patrol Officers. Each bundle comes with a 10% discount, offering an incentive for those interested in similar genres.

Alongside the digital release, Kwalee and Fallen Tree Games have partnered with publisher Microids to bring The Precinct to physical retail stores. Available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the physical edition is priced at $39.99 / €39.99 / £34.99. A Limited Edition version will also be released, which includes a Steelbook case, a digital original soundtrack, and a printed map of Averno City, in addition to the full game.

With its mix of open-world gameplay, law enforcement simulation, and a setting inspired by 1980s noir films, The Precinct aims to offer players a diverse and immersive policing experience. Whether pursuing suspects across neon-lit streets or investigating deeper conspiracies tied to the city’s criminal underworld, players can expect a range of challenges in a city that never sleeps.
