Reef Entertainment has officially released Terminator 2D: NO FATE, a new 2D action side-scroller based on the Terminator franchise. The game is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Developed by Bitmap Bureau, the title is fully licensed and set within the world of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The studio is known for its work on arcade-inspired games, and this release continues that direction with fast-paced combat, hand-crafted pixel art, and level design influenced by classic coin-op experiences.
Alongside the launch, Reef Entertainment has released a new gameplay trailer showing how the game plays across its various stages. The footage highlights side-scrolling action, enemy encounters, and boss fights drawn from the Terminator universe. Players can step into the roles of Sarah Connor and the T-800 as they attempt to survive against the T-1000, one of the most recognizable villains from the film series.
The game also includes Future War missions, which move beyond the events of the movie. In these sections, players control John Connor as the leader of the human Resistance. These missions focus on the ongoing conflict between humanity and Skynet, offering a different setting and tone compared to the film-based levels. According to the developers, these stages are designed to expand the Terminator storyline rather than simply retell it.

While Terminator 2D: NO FATE follows key moments from Judgment Day, it also introduces new scenarios and multiple endings. Player performance and choices influence how the story unfolds, allowing for different outcomes that are not seen in the original film. This structure gives the game replay value while staying within the established Terminator timeline.
Visually, the game uses detailed pixel art that reflects characters, environments, and machines from the movie. Animations are designed to match the pace of arcade action, with an emphasis on movement, shooting, and enemy patterns. The soundtrack and sound effects are built to support the game’s retro-inspired presentation while running on modern hardware.
Reef Entertainment has confirmed that information regarding versions for retro platforms will be shared at a later date. No specific systems or timelines have been announced so far, but the publisher stated that updates will come after the current launch window.
With its release across all major platforms, Terminator 2D: NO FATE targets fans of classic action games as well as long-time followers of the Terminator franchise. The game is now available digitally, offering a new way to experience the world of Terminator 2 through a 2D action format designed for today’s consoles and PCs.
