Sucker Punch Focused on Ghost of Yotei, But Creative Director Would Love to Work on More Infamous

Sucker Punch Productions has been a key part of PlayStation’s first-party lineup for over two decades, building a reputation for creating memorable franchises across multiple console generations. From the stealthy adventures of Sly Cooper on PlayStation 2 to the superhero drama of Infamous on PlayStation 3 and early PlayStation 4, the studio’s ability to deliver distinct experiences has kept it in the spotlight. In recent years, Ghost of Tsushima has become the studio’s flagship series, leaving fans to wonder if older titles like Infamous might ever return.

During an interview with Game Informer about Ghost of Yotei, the upcoming follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch creative directors Nate Fox and Jason Connell addressed questions about the studio’s previous projects. When asked specifically about the possibility of returning to the Infamous series, Fox acknowledged his own interest.

“I would love to work on more Infamous,” Fox said. “I would love to see a trilogy rerelease, but Sucker Punch is a one game at a time shop, and right now we are very focused on finishing Ghost of Yotei.”

The comments highlight a consistent trend in Sucker Punch’s development history. Since its early days, the studio has maintained a one-project focus, fully dedicating resources to a single game rather than splitting teams across multiple projects. This approach was seen during the PlayStation 2 era with the Sly Cooper series, which received three installments under Sucker Punch before a fourth entry was developed by another studio for PlayStation 3.

The PlayStation 3 generation saw Sucker Punch shift to Infamous, delivering two mainline entries and an expansion. The series later transitioned to PlayStation 4 with Infamous Second Son and the standalone DLC Infamous First Light, but there have been no new entries since.

Ghost of Tsushima became the studio’s major focus during the PlayStation 4 era and has continued into PlayStation 5 with an expanded Director’s Cut and the upcoming Ghost of Yotei. This marks only the second time Sucker Punch has developed a series that spans two PlayStation console generations.

While Fox’s comments reflect enthusiasm for Infamous, they also reinforce the reality of the studio’s current focus. A return to Infamous or a potential remaster collection may be appealing to long-time fans, but any such plans would likely have to wait until after the release of Ghost of Yotei.

For now, Sucker Punch appears fully committed to building on the success of Ghost of Tsushima, but the door remains open for the superhero franchise that helped define the studio’s PlayStation 3 era.
