Shift Up has released a teaser for Stellar Blade 2, revealing that the next installment may take place in a futuristic post-apocalyptic version of China. Shared via the official @StellarBlade account on X, the teaser shows cityscapes that closely resemble Chongqing, known for its multi-layered buildings and complex urban layout.

The original Stellar Blade featured a post-apocalyptic world with influences drawn from North Africa and the Middle East, primarily in terms of aesthetics rather than direct references. With the sequel, the developers appear to be moving toward a more clearly defined real-world setting. Reddit user u/jamiebaby identified elements in the teaser that suggest Chongqing, highlighting its vertical city design and interconnected structures.

China played a significant role in the success of the first Stellar Blade, with around 70% of PC sales coming from the region. This may have influenced the choice of setting for the sequel, providing players with a familiar yet reimagined environment.

Shift Up has also been expanding its development team in preparation for the next title. While no official release date has been announced, the scale of hiring and location scouting indicates that production is well underway, though the game is still likely several years from launch.
The teaser provides an early glimpse of the game’s world, showing a densely built urban environment that could influence gameplay, exploration, and story elements. Fans can expect further updates on world-building and narrative design as development progresses.
