SEGA Announces Warhammer 40K: Space Marine Master Crafted Edition, Launching on June 10

SEGA and Relic Entertainment have announced a remastered version of the original Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, titled Space Marine Master Crafted Edition. The announcement was made during the annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, revealing that the updated version of the game will release on June 10, 2025, for PC and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day.

Originally released in 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, Space Marine was a third-person action shooter set in the dark sci-fi universe of Warhammer 40K. The game put players in the role of Captain Titus of the Ultramarines, fighting against waves of Orks and the forces of Chaos. The remaster aims to preserve the core experience while updating the game to match modern hardware standards.

The updated edition is being developed by SneakyBox, a studio known for its work on restoring and updating older titles. According to the studio, the Master Crafted Edition is more than just a visual update. It features 4K resolution support, improved textures, enhanced character models, and remastered audio. The control scheme has also been reworked to offer smoother gameplay. All original downloadable content is included as part of the package.

Vaidas Mikelskas, a producer at SneakyBox, stated that the goal was to maintain the feel of the original game while enhancing it for current systems. This edition includes every piece of additional content released since the game’s original launch, bringing the complete experience to new and returning players alike.

The game will be available digitally through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Xbox for $39.99 USD. There is no confirmation at this time about a PlayStation 5 release. It’s possible the game may be a timed exclusive for Xbox consoles, but SEGA has not provided further details.

The release of Space Marine Master Crafted Edition follows the successful launch of Space Marine 2 in 2024, which introduced a new generation of players to the series. For those who may have missed the first game or are new to the franchise, this remastered version provides a way to experience the original title with modern improvements.

Also revealed during the Warhammer Skulls event was a new CRPG titled Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy, currently in development by Owlcat Games, the studio behind Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

With the remaster of Space Marine on the way and new titles on the horizon, the Warhammer 40K universe continues to expand across genres and platforms, offering more ways for fans to explore its massive world.
