Retro Fighters has started a Kickstarter campaign for the BattleDock base shell, a new accessory designed for the Nintendo Switch 2. The campaign went live yesterday and offers a product aimed at fans of the classic GameCube design.
The BattleDock is meant to be used together with the official Nintendo Switch 2 dock. It is not a replacement or a third-party docking solution. To install it, users connect the accessory’s two USB plugs to the Switch 2 dock and clip it onto the front and bottom of the base. Once in place, the BattleDock adds four GameCube controller ports to the front. These ports support original wired GameCube controllers and certain wireless models, allowing players to use familiar hardware for modern games.

Retro Fighters says the BattleDock addresses input lag found in Nintendo’s official GameCube controller adapter. The company claims their accessory removes the 4ms input delay of the original adapter, which could make a difference for games that require quick reactions.
In terms of appearance, the BattleDock copies the look of the original GameCube front panel. The design includes decorative memory card slots under the controller ports, though these are non-functional and included only for aesthetic purposes. The accessory comes in four colors—black, silver, yellow, and blue—that match the original GameCube color options.

The Kickstarter campaign lists a starting price of $36 for early backers. There are 18 days remaining for supporters to pledge and help bring the BattleDock to production. Retro Fighters has not yet shared a shipping date or timeline for delivery.
The BattleDock only works with the official Nintendo Switch 2 dock and does not support third-party alternatives. This ensures full compatibility and avoids potential issues with power or connectivity.
If funding goals are met, the BattleDock will bring a familiar feel and style to Nintendo’s next-generation console for fans of the GameCube era.
