Razer Launches Thunderbolt 5 Dock and Core X V2 eGPU for Advanced PC Connectivity

Razer has announced the release of two new PC accessories designed to take advantage of Thunderbolt 5 technology. The Razer Thunderbolt 5 Dock and Razer Core X V2 external graphics enclosure bring expanded bandwidth, multi-display support, and improved flexibility to modern workstations and gaming setups.

Thunderbolt 5 offers peak transfer speeds of up to 120 Gb/s, which is almost twelve times faster than USB 3.0. This allows users to connect high-performance peripherals, access ultra-fast external storage, and run multiple 4K displays simultaneously. Both devices are aimed at professionals and gamers who need reliable performance and efficient desk setups.

The Razer Thunderbolt 5 Dock consolidates multiple connectivity functions into a single device. It supports up to three 4K displays running at 120 Hz and offers 11 ports accessible through one Thunderbolt 5 cable. The dock also includes up to 8 TB of integrated SSD storage, enabling rapid file transfers and access to large media libraries. With Thunderbolt Share, users can transfer files and control multiple systems from a single workspace. The dock is powered by a 250 W adapter, with up to 140 W available for charging laptops and connected devices.

Travis Furst, Head of Notebooks and Accessories at Razer, said, “The Razer Thunderbolt 5 Dock is designed for faster data transfer and improved multi-display support. With the Razer Core X V2, we’re providing desktop-class graphics performance for portable systems.”

The Razer Core X V2 is an external GPU enclosure that supports full-sized PCIe graphics cards, including the latest NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon models. It works with Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5, and select USB4 laptops and handheld devices, allowing users to upgrade their systems for demanding tasks like gaming and content creation. The enclosure is built with a ventilated steel chassis and features a 120 mm fan that adjusts based on workload. For additional control, Razer Synapse software allows users to customize fan curves and cooling behavior.

A single Thunderbolt 5 connection links the Core X V2 to host devices, delivering desktop-class GPU performance and providing up to 140 W of power for charging. The design supports standard ATX power supplies, making it compatible with a wide range of graphics cards and hardware configurations.

“Razer continues to deliver on the potential of Thunderbolt 5 by enabling extreme performance and flexibility,” said Ben Hacker, General Manager of Intel’s Client Connectivity Division.

The Razer Thunderbolt 5 Dock and Core X V2 are now available through Razer’s official website. More information on the Thunderbolt 5 Dock can be found here, while details about the Core X V2 are listed here.
