Quantic Dream has introduced its new title, Spellcasters Chronicles, a 3v3 free-to-play action strategy game that combines spellcasting, creature summoning, and tactical team combat. This marks a shift for the studio, known for narrative-driven titles such as Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain, as it moves into competitive multiplayer development.
In Spellcasters Chronicles, players take on the role of “Spellcasters,” competing in teams of three within vertical arenas. Each match runs for about 25 minutes, where teams capture altars, expand their control, and destroy the opposing squad’s Lifestones to claim victory. The gameplay blends direct third-person combat with strategic depth through the use of spells and summoned creatures.
Each Spellcaster features its own archetype, offering a range of abilities and playstyles. Players can further customize their experience through a deck-building system, selecting spells and creatures to create tailored loadouts for each match.
David Cage, co-founder and president of Quantic Dream, said the new project represents an opportunity for the studio to explore new creative directions. “Developing Spellcasters Chronicles has been a challenge and a learning experience for our teams in Paris and Montreal,” he said. “We look forward to refining the game with community feedback and continuing to grow with this project.”

A closed beta for Spellcasters Chronicles is scheduled for the end of 2025. Registration is open now, though access will be limited to selected participants. The first public hands-on session will take place on October 17 at TwitchCon San Diego, where attendees can play the game on the LAN stage. The event will include a gameplay presentation and a Q&A session for those interested in learning more.
In addition to this new title, Quantic Dream continues to work on other projects, including Star Wars: Eclipse. Spellcasters Chronicles represents the studio’s next step toward expanding its portfolio into live, multiplayer-focused experiences while maintaining its emphasis on visual quality and detailed world-building.
