OneXPlayer OneXFly Apex comes with Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU, Liquid Cooling, and Modular Battery System

OneXPlayer has officially revealed its latest Windows-based gaming handheld, the OneXFly Apex, which introduces several new design and performance features to the company’s lineup. Equipped with AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU and Radeon 8060 graphics, the device aims to deliver desktop-class computing power in a compact portable form. The announcement follows growing competition in the handheld gaming market, where brands like GPD and AYANEO have recently launched high-performance devices with detachable modules and improved cooling systems.

The OneXFly Apex’s most notable addition is its liquid cooling system, designed to improve sustained performance under heavy workloads. The setup features a detachable tower that integrates a radiator, pump, and reservoir, similar to XMG’s Oasis system. When connected, the Apex can draw up to 120 W of power, enabling higher performance thresholds compared to typical air-cooled handhelds. In standalone mode, without the cooling tower, the APU maintains an 80 W TDP, with the option to boost up to 100 W depending on the thermal conditions.

OneXPlayer designed the cooling system for versatility, allowing users to connect or remove it based on performance needs. This design approach makes the device suitable for both mobile use and stationary gaming setups. The company claims the cooling dock helps the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 sustain high frequencies without thermal throttling during extended gaming or productivity tasks.

Powering the system is an 85 Wh modular external battery, which attaches to the back of the device in a removable configuration. This layout mirrors the design philosophy of GPD’s Win 5, offering longer battery life and the flexibility to replace the power pack without disassembling the unit.

On the display side, the OneXFly Apex features an 8-inch IPS panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness, and 100% sRGB color accuracy, ensuring clear and fluid visuals across various lighting conditions. The display size and resolution aim to balance portability with usability, making it suitable for both gaming and creative work.

The device can be configured with up to 128 GB of LPDDR5x-8000 memory and 2 TB of NVMe SSD storage, with an extra M.2 slot available for future upgrades. This range of configurations gives users flexibility depending on their gaming or multitasking needs.

In terms of control layout, the OneXFly Apex adopts an Xbox-style design with dual Hall effect joysticks placed slightly offset from each other. The handheld supports 10-point multitouch, allowing intuitive navigation through the Windows interface. However, it does not include a trackpad, which may limit its use for certain genres like real-time strategy or simulation titles. Without the external battery, the device weighs 698 grams, which places it among the heavier options in its category but aligns with its powerful hardware.

OneXPlayer also shared internal benchmark comparisons showing the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 outperforming the Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU found in previous-generation handhelds. The improved performance highlights the impact of the higher TDP capability and enhanced thermal management system.

The OneXFly Apex is currently available for pre-order in China, with international availability expected soon. The official pricing structure includes:

  • Ryzen AI Max 385 / 32 GB RAM / 1 TB SSD – RMB 8,599 (~$1,200)
  • Ryzen AI Max+ 395 / 48 GB RAM / 1 TB SSD – RMB 9,999 (~$1,400)
  • Ryzen AI Max+ 395 / 64 GB RAM / 2 TB SSD – RMB 11,999 (~$1,700)
  • Ryzen AI Max+ 395 / 128 GB RAM / 2 TB SSD – RMB 15,999 (~$1,690)

The liquid cooling tower and detachable battery pack will be sold separately for RMB 999 (~$140) and RMB 399 (~$60), respectively. Global pricing is expected to vary based on import costs and regional availability.

With its high-performance APU, advanced thermal system, and modular design, the OneXPlayer OneXFly Apex positions itself as one of the most powerful and flexible handheld gaming PCs entering the market this year.
