nubia Introduces the nubia Fold and Flip3 as New Additions to Its Foldable Smartphone Lineup

nubia has expanded its foldable smartphone range with the introduction of the nubia Fold and the nubia Flip3. The two devices aim to offer updated displays, improved durability, modern camera systems, and software features designed to enhance day-to-day usage. Both models arrive as part of the company’s continued push into the growing foldable category, with launches confirmed for Japan and a wider release expected in the coming year.

The nubia Fold features an 8-inch OLED main screen with a resolution of 2,480 × 2,200. This large display is designed for viewing, multitasking, and productivity tasks. On the outside, the phone includes a 6.5-inch cover panel rated at 2,748 × 1,172. Folded, it measures 11.1 mm in thickness and weighs 249 grams. The device carries IPX4 water resistance and IP5X dust protection.

The Fold supports half-open multitasking, enabling the two displays to operate independently. Users can run separate apps on each screen or use the fold angle for video calls, content viewing, and other activities.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor paired with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. A 6,560 mAh battery powers the device, and 55 W fast charging is supported through USB Type-C.

For imaging, the rear camera system includes a 50 MP wide lens, a 50 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5 MP macro lens. On the front, the device includes a 20 MP camera inside and a second 20 MP camera built into the cover display. Features such as night photography support, portrait enhancements, and group shot tuning are handled through built-in software and AI-assisted tools.

AI features can be activated by holding the power button for 0.5 seconds. nubia states that future FOTA updates may expand the feature list. Current tools include real-time translation with on-screen subtitles, call assistance, writing support, privacy masking through face stickers, object removal via Eraser Magic, and a dedicated gaming space that manages notifications and optimizes performance during gameplay. FeliCa support is included for contactless payments, making the device suitable for everyday transactions in supported regions.

The nubia Flip3 provides a different experience with its clamshell design. It features a 6.9-inch OLED main display with a resolution of 2,790 × 1,188 and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The outer sub-display measures 4.0 inches and supports quick access to widgets, notifications, and camera controls. The Flip3 weighs approximately 187 grams and comes with a high-strength aluminum frame.

When opened, the device measures 170 × 76 × 7.5 mm. When closed, it becomes a compact 87 × 76 × 15.9 mm. The Flip3 is rated for 300,000 open-and-close cycles and uses a third-generation hinge designed to improve durability over long-term use. It also includes IPX4 water resistance and IP5X dust protection.

The phone runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7400X processor with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. A 4,610 mAh battery is included, offering power for a full day of general use.

The camera setup includes a 50 MP wide-angle lens and a 12 MP ultra-wide lens on the back, with a 32 MP camera on the front. Gesture controls allow users to take photos without pressing a button, making it easier to capture group shots or selfies from a distance. The Neovision AI Camera automates movement detection, zoom adjustments, and enhancement features.

Like the Fold, the Flip3 includes AI-based tools such as call assistance, interpretation, Circle and Search, fraud prevention, and image editing via Eraser Magic. FeliCa support is also included for touch-based payments.

The nubia Fold is available in Black and is priced at JPY 178,560, which is approximately USD 1,148. It will go on sale in Japan on December 4, 2025, with a broader release expected sometime in 2026.

The nubia Flip3 will launch in White and Black, with its official price set to be confirmed when it becomes available in January 2026.
